I have to tell you, reality set in about business owners when my hubby’s business nearly closed after 9/11.
The three owners sold boats, second houses, mortgaged their first homes to the hilt and worked for no pay.
We lost our paid vacations that year. That was it.
If people don’t realize the risk that business owners take when times are tough, they are stupid.
That’s pretty much telling it like it is. I sure wish the message would get through to Washington DC. Fat chance!
all these politicians are interested in is getting elected & reelected...and if ANYONE thinks they have YOUR interest at hand...unless you sent them a VERY LARGE CHECK, I've got some swampland in FL for sale! TERM LIMITS is the ONLY solution! And there are two chances of that ever occurring...slim & none...and "Slim" just left the building! LOL
Dude, businesses are made up of individuals. Here’s something I learned in my 3rd week of Accounting 320 (Cost Accounting) at SDSU way back when...
A “business” views taxes as just another cost. The object of a business is to have revenues greater than cost (this is called “profit”) and in amounts needed to justify starting the business in the first place (Economics 120). Revenues are obtained from customers that purchase goods and services provided by “the business”. If one cost, such as taxes, goes up revenues must go up to continue operating profitably. Since selling more goods and services increases other costs that is not the answer, even if you can conjure up more customers. No, buddy, the simplest way to produce more revenue to cover the increased cost of higher “business tax” is to charge higher prices to our customers. Same principal as seen with the airlines last year when their fuel prices tripled; YOUR ticket price increased.
The “business” never, ever pays taxes, FRiend. It simply collects them for Uncle Sugar.
“I dont eat out as much. I dont buy a new car, or a new boat, or build a vacation home.”
Or buy an RV or motor home from the good folks in Elkhart, IN, who cheered and praised Obama when he said he would “tax the rich.”
Now they’re waiting in lines for food and toiletries.
I retired after 42 years in the workplace. This year when my retirement bonus comes to an end, I will not have income for about 4 months. Then I become part of the problem. I hope to get back some of the thousands and thousands of dollars I paid to the feds while paying VERY reduced taxes. Take that government!
Go Galt!
I think the poster meant that they are withdrawing the capital gains tax on real estate partnerships and instead taxing it as salary, which will effectively kill development for most deals in this country.
The words i’ve been hearing in my head lately are”Somethings’ Happening Here” by Buffalo Springfield(Stephen Stills-60’s)
And they have this “little match girl” idea of “the poor”.
I know people who get Section 8 housing (in a great suburb), low cost phone, low cost heat, food stamps and medical care.
They also have a Minivan, two cell phones, a Wii, a computer, a laptop and a plasma tv. I don’t mind at all giving a hand up. I have a problem with following the lady at Walmart who is buying steak and Chicken Voila while my kids are eating Mac & Cheese and hot dogs.
Some of those politicians need to get out into the world.
Could you update the link to the article? I went on the BMI website and I couldn’t find it.
Chris Mathews do you still feel that tingle up your leg...maybe its because you are starting to pee in your pants.
And we will pay.
For years I have been asking the question, is CRISSY MATTHEWS the actor that played “LARRY” Beavers friend? I know he’s not but he could have.
Logistically, yes.
However, I was speaking only of the ideology.
