Recently a photo of Barnes & Noble book display board was circulated widely over the Internet. The photo showed various books about President Obama around a central photo of a monkey book. Barnes & Noble claims some prankster did this intentionally. The photo shown in this site was the catalyst of this controversy. The photos shows a book on monkeys Monkey: A Captivating Look at These Fascinating Animals with a number of books around it focusing on President Obama and his wife Michelle.
The book chain Barnes & Noble deny someone deliberately placed the monkey book in the display. They call it a hate crime
Leonard Riggio, founder and chairman of Barnes & Noble, said in a statement:
This malicious and despicable act is nothing short of a hate crime, which should be punishable under federal statutes.
The book chain claims as soon as this prank was noticed, it removed the book from the display. It says whoever put the books there must have snapped the picture and distributed it over the Internet.
But if you go to any Barnes & Noble book store, the book displays are usually behind the staff desks and are locked from the public.

“Barack Obama didn’t call Gov. Palin a “pig.” It’s called an “idiom” or “figure of speech.”

It sure wasn’t a hate crime when Bush was called a Nazi and a monkey. Blatant double-standard there, but you can’t expect anything less from the left.

Barnes and Noble has a history of being “progressive” friendly...
It delayed the books against Kerry in the 2004 election from being put on the shelves for over three weeks after release.
I would imagine this was a prankster.. but it had the “tact” approval of the floor manager

I think it was posted here. Anyway,
here's a link to a site with the photo. FWIW, at my college, the entire black history month display was an 0bama for President collection. Additionally, I've seen several of 0bama's books in the religion sections of book stores.

And if it’s a “crime”,
that directly means, without question,
that the government is empowered to punish the action
with confiscation of property or loss of liberty, or life.
Is this what the left wants? Of course they do.

MSNBC’s Erin Burnett-who twice referred to President Bush as “the monkey in the middle” on nationwide TV, had no comment.....

So, the left wants to deprive someone of life, liberty, or property,
for placing a monkey book among books about an elected official.
Can they really deny that they are
FASCISTS?

Notice how the words “hate crime” don’t mean what they meant a few years ago.
They used to mean a real crime, such as assault, beating, cutting, shooting a real person, with the ADDED element of racial bias.
Now “hate crime” means any action that someone considers as bias, provided that the perpetrator is a member of a privileged class and the complainant is a member of a protected victim class.
To: Free ThinkerNY
Wow. A “hate crime”. As bad as a lynching or what was done to Matthew Shepard?
You would think that people who love words would be judicious in their use.

Actually, it’s the monkey that’s being hated upon.
Good grief, just because some customer thought it’d be funny to put a monkey book in the display and post a picture of it on the web Barnes and Nobles is getting dumped on. Of course “they” are going after the innocent book company because it has $$$$ rather than the doofus who did the deed.
