I was born and raised in N.O. and now live in the ‘burbs. I don’t think there is anything attractive about my home town. Whenever I travel to other towns or states, I have yet to see one as dirty and rundown as N.O. And I’m not just talking about post-Katrina. It was like this before Katrina.

Slidell may be close to New Orleans but we are a world away. In New Orleans they would not have been so prompt in responding to the calls and they probably would not have bothered to question anyone in the vicinity when they realized it was a false alarm. They would have just forgot about it and not responded to calls from that cell phone number anymore. Slidell is a nice little town, Bobby Jindal used to be our Congressional representative. Our Mayor is a retired Colonel in the Army Reserves, an Eagle Scout, former DEA agent and served as Police Chief in Slidell for 12 years. We are not New Orleans.

I think you miss the point...the place is filthy. Not just dirty but greasy filthy. It is in the hands of people who don’t care what it looks like and are not inclined to do their jobs.
