The dirty little secret os they knew the economy was starting to improve before passing the stick-it-to-US bill. That is why it had to be done so fast. Retail sales is a leading indicator and it was up Jan and Feb.

A leading indicator is something that may indicate a future trend is starting.

People consuming is what takes the country out of ression.

Absolutely correct. We have some banking issues depending on how they adjust the ‘07 mark-to-market rules, but otherwise this is looking like it could be a quick V shaped recovery after people come out of the panic of Q4, ‘08.

This is all despite the stupid things they are doing to the economy.

BE CAREFUL,

any rebound in the market before 2012 will see hussein on every TV channel saying, “ SEE THAT, I DID THAT !” and will find the GOP a permanent minority for a generation.

PREDICTION:

Any DOW bounce and economic uptick will see the dominant media praise their messiah as the only one who could have done it, obama being televised constantly ala chavez AND super majorities in congress for the dem/socialist party in 2010 and 2012 and majority status for a generation.

Wait till the new taxes hit and we’ll see just how bad things can get. Here In Michigan our idiot governor says the drop in revenue collected in lottery and tobacco taxes is “breathtaking”. That means they plan to make up for it somewhere else.

I’m surprised they didn’t pass single payer health care while still in crisis mode.

This whole thing was a manufactured crisis to get Barry elected and to ram through a bunch of lefty programs and spending.

I do not think we are out of the recession and not by a long shot. In February there was a decline in retail sales but not as bad as they expected. People are spending a bit of the tax refund. The most important factors in measuring the health of the economy are GPD and unemployment rate and both of them are very bad and will continue to be for the remainder of the year if not way in 2010. What the socialists did is going to hurt the economy beyond imagination but the full damage is not yet done so imagine how bad it will be a year from now.

Wait until the tax increases start and then we will have a disaster. Companies who are going to pay more in taxes are not going to hire more people but they are going to lay off more people. The same goes for small businesses. All taxpayers are going to pay much more taxes when the Bush tax cuts expires and hence they are going to consume much less.

Obama socialist economy is not yet fully implemented but once it is then we will have much worse economic problems than what we are seeing now.

Also expect an incredible amount of fake data from the government showing the economy much better than it is in reality. With the bunch of socialists we have now lying is their most important weapon. Their problem is that there will be independent groups who will release GDP, unemployment and other economic data that will expose their great lies.

Jimmy Carter (with a lot of help from the media and problems within the republican party got elected too. He ruined the economy, but what got him replaced was his awful weak response to the hostage crisis. Obama, is no different than Carter and the result is likely to be the same.

Mr. Bacon was heavily invested

As was his wife, it was reported that they lost "everything" they had to the Madoff scandal...but "everything" could be everything saved for retirement, or every single last penny (which I doubt)...

Still....not good for Mr/Mrs Bacon tonight...

People consuming is what takes the country out of ression.
********************************************************
My neighbors lost their sub shop franchise , 2 other shops in the same strip closed down , there are empty shops everywhere in my city...

Sure sales were up in Feb. ,, sales are always strong in Feb. BIG DEAL ,, it’s just tax refund money being spent... all done by April.

I don’t mean to rain on your parade but we’ve been watching Japan “recover” for 18+ years with the same gov’t policies we’re now implementing....

With umployers shutting down , tax hikes across the board on the way and increased regulation in all areas coming we’d be lucky to hold steady... but then we have all that printed cash ready to force inflation on us .. come to think of it many of my normal grocery items have been rising in price despite the economy... perhaps that’s one of the causes of the spending increase..

Lets see what happens when T-Bill prices crash as rates move up to pace inflation ... all those people in “safe havens” will get hot again with a huge loss...

Yes, they could let the idea of this crisis pass without forcing a disgusting agenda on us that was stashed in the bills that were supposed to save us from the crisis that they knew wasn’t so bad.

They ought to all be thrown outta town. What’s alomost as bad is that too many Republicans went along with it.
