TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The debate over Florida's public campaign finance system turned ugly as a Republican insulted President Barack Obama and a Democrat gave a vulgar retort.
A senate committee on Thursday unanimously approved giving voters a chance to get rid of public campaign financing, but not before the chairman had to admonish two members for their choice of words.
Republicans let the debate turn into a discussion on Obama's decision not to accept public campaign financing after initially saying he would.
Sen. Ronda Storms said, "They don't want to talk about the messiah having a flaw, but actually it was a flaw."
Democrat Sen. Chris Smith retorted, "Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining."

I heard the Ari - Chrissy exchange on the Gallagher show this morning. Ari had Chrissy struck speechless. I loved it.

I think Smith captured this old saying as a malapropism...he used it in the wrong place but missed the comic effect.
