This was during the early 1990's when all the aftermath of the creation of the Russian Federation and such.

I would imagine the paint was cheap East European type.. put on so thick that it probably made the planes heavier.

I never did find out what we DID with those old things after they were brought back to the states... Probably melted them down for scrap

I remember hearing that the Wing commander of the MiG-29s broke down and cried when we carted away his planes.

I really felt bad for the guy. No joke.
