President Barack Obama Punches Osama Bin Laden And Carries Gun In Comic Books

The first couple of times that Barack Obama popped up in comic books he was fairly conservative. He received an endorsement from the Savage Dragon during the election, and he hung out with everyones friendly neighborhood Spider-Man at his inauguration. Now, that Barack Obama is actually President and occupying the White House his comic book appearances have gotten a little more risqué.
No longer is comic book Barack Obama content to sit on the sidelines and let the superheroes take care of business. No, comic book Barack Obama wants a piece of the action himself.
On a WonderCon variant cover for Savage Dragon #145, President Barack Obama is shown socking it to Osama Bin Laden. The cover is a retro-cover calling back to the days when comic book characters like Captain America would punch Hitler.
Of course, having President Barack Obama punch Osama Bin Laden really isnt that out of character. I mean, what American President wouldnt deck Bin Laden if given the opportunity? Perhaps, even more shocking is that an Emerald City comic book convention variant cover for Youngblood #8 shows President Barack Obama holding a gun.
Considering that President Obama is widely regarded as being anti-gun, its surprising to see him packing heat in a comic book. Maybe its ok, because it appears to be a souped-up laser gun as opposed to a real gun like people in small town America cling to.
Whats next for President Barack Obama in comic books? How long before he gets a superpower or hes revealed to be a mutant? Its only a matter of time before President Obama gets doused in gamma rays or pops out some adamantium claws.

Of course, the biggest Barack Obama comic book appearance to date is Amazing Spiderman #583. Because Spider-Man is a household name, and Barack Obama is reportedly a Spider-Man fan (as well as Conan the Barbarian), this particular comic book created a feeding frenzy not seen since the nineties in comic book stores. The Barack Obama Presidential Inauguration Day edition of Amazing Spider-Man became a huge news story, appearing several times on CNN. The Spider-Man comic book was not only good for the publisher Marvel, but it was good for the comic book industry, because it sent tons of people scurrying to find out where their local comic book store was located. President-elect Barack Obama is helping out comic book publishers. At least, the ones who are wise enough to put him on the cover of their comics. Before the election, IDW Publishing printed a Barack Obama biography comic book. The third printing of their Barack Obama comic book has sold out, going to a fourth printing."
When Obama was asked: If you could be any superhero, who would you be? by Entertainment Weekly, Obama didnt hesitate to say, I was always into the Spider-Man/Batman model. The guys who have too many powers, like Superman, that always made me think they werent really earning their superhero status. Its a little too easy. Whereas Spider-Man and Batman, they have some inner turmoil. They get knocked around a little bit.
Clinton was a comic book reader, but sold his collection when a kid. Mrs. Clinton once compared Bush to a comic book character. Even though Hillary, herself, was named a comic book queen. Reagan was a fan of comic strips- Spider-Man. Eisenhower hosted the National Cartoonist Society. FDR enjoyed reading Dick Tracy.

He becomes a "gay" super villain? Guess his power will be a mutant AIDs infection from the gay Magneto that gives him control only over precious metals and paper.

I got excited and then I read the last three words of the title.

UPDATE:

Michelle Obama comic book (Bluewater Productions) (March 13, 2009)
"I feel like the guy who invented the Furby," Bluewater President Darren Davis said. "The reaction has been insane."
The Obama comic, which will be officially released April 25 and will sell for $3.99, shows the first lady growing up in her middle-class South Shore home, attending Princeton and helping her husband become president. In keeping with the upbeat tone of the "Female Force" series, the Obama edition does not mention any controversial speeches or fist bumps.
Obama does not possess any superpowers in the comic, but the cover depicts her in a sleeveless top that highlights the most famous arms in Washington.
The 22-page comic also avoids any illustrations of Malia or Sasha Obama, a decision the publisher made to steer clear of the controversy surrounding the Ty Girlz dolls created in the sisters' image earlier this year.

President Barack Obama Punches Osama Bin Laden And Carries Gun In Comic Books Huh. Even a bigace graphic novel isn't that thick. It'd only hold a slim girlyman gun. Get something bigger like a consise dictionar.
