Obama Requires YOU to SERVE, H.R.1388, "The Give Act" to reform the National Service Laws

HR 1388, will hit the House floor on Tuesday.It is called the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act (The Give Act.) The House is scheduled to Rule this week. Sponsored by Democrat Representative Carolyn McCarthy (NY), Education and Labor Committee. The objective is to reauthorize and reform the national service laws.

Democrat Rep. McCarthy is sponsoring the bill with 25 co-sponsors, ALL Democrats, including Charlie Rangel. Need I say more.

Obama’s “Civilian National Security Force” resurfaces
A day ago, at the dedication ceremony of the National Defense University’s Abraham Lincoln Hall, President Obama expressed a renewed need for a civilian national security force. http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2009/03/red-alert-obamas-civilian-national.html On Febuary 16, I noted a little-publicized Department of Defense Directive (Number 1404.10), which establishes a “DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce” and rescinds a prior (and longstanding) directive dealing with the emergency use of civilian personnel.

The new 1404.10 cancels the prior directive of the same designation (”Emergency-Essential (E-E) DoD U.S. Citizen Civilian Employees”), which was issued in 1992 under President Clinton. The 1992 directive specifically deals with overseas deployments of civilian personnel. It does not mention terms like “restoration of order” or “stability operations”, prominently featured in the new directive.

In fact, those functions are central to the mission of President Obama’s new DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce. The 1992 directive mentions the term “overseas” no fewer than 33 times. The 2009 directive does not mention the term “overseas” in the body of the directive even once.

Perhaps you are right but I think there are more that would care if they were AWARE.

Sadly, in the past Congress has maintained, not earned, an unconditional trust from many Americans. Not me but the same people who don't question their Doctor. People want to believe their Congressman or Congresswoman is honest but they as a whole are NOT.

I think more people today have been so disappointed and angry at the double standards, hypocrisy, and criminal behavior of many in Congress. We have all painfully learned lately especially, there seems to be VERY FEW in Congress there for the RIGHT reasons. Look at how they treat us by lying to us.

Look at Frank, Dodd, Rangel, Pelosi...criminal behavior and they still have a job. I think many people care and would care more if they were aware of the rampant DUPLICITY happening on a daily basis. I really do.

I do believe you have a very good point. Some just don't care. Everyone has their own path.

When your country doesn’t want you anymore it is time to go. Particularly when the majority in that country are willing to do these things. At that point there is no winning it back. Just ask anyone who was in 1930’s Germany. You may well end up taking up arms against it, but not from within. To fight from within at that point only gets you dead without accomplishing much.

Mom and I were watching "Airwolf" yesterday, it was about where Airwolf had to rescue a group of students on an archeological trip in a country where they were captured by a Communist rebel who was being helped by Cuba. Well make a long story short, the Cubans scrambled MiG-15's to take out Airwolf in which Airwolf dispatched them quite well.

I said to Mom, "it took us 20/25 years to go from Ronald Reagan to the current "one" (I can't say the word here) in office. Back then, I knew what we should fight for, believe and so on and America reflected those values. Today, I still know what to fight for and believe, but it seems like the country is turning against those values and us. I feel like an alien although I know we are right in our hearts and God."

I think Israel has mandatory service for it's young people. I like the idea of the discipline of military service which instills national pride.
