President Barack Obama has established a new staff position in his White House with the task of overseeing arts and culture, Kareem Dale. Dale, a partially-blind lawyer previously served as national disability director for Obama's campaign and served on the arts policy committee for Obama in Illinois.
No details have been provided about the specific job duties as of yet, but it's been described as "a big step forward in terms of connecting cultural and goverment with mainstream administration policy."

Kareem Dale is founder and chief executive officer of The Dale Law Group (DLG) in Chicago and served as the Obama campaign’s Disability Vote Director. Dale, partially blind, tried to broaden the campaign’s reach and involve even more voices in the Obama campaign.
Prior to his appointment as Disability Vote Director, Dale also served as a volunteer on the Disability Policy and the Arts Policy Committees for the Obama For America campaign.
Dale is a native Chicagoan and received his bachelor’s degree in Advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He graduated Cum Laude with a law degree and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May, 1999.

Note he has not one tie to the arts at all. He has no degree in fine arts, no experience running an arts organization. Nothing. Yet he will be setting policy for the arts (although I do not believe that arts policy should be set at all).
I know there was talk of a czar, but I don’t think this position is.
You know, when Zero announced in the first hour or two of his administration that he was “freezing” staff salaries (what they don’t get raises after working only one day?) and his minions sung his praises to the Heavens for this, he has added how many “White House” positions??????

First Time a President has had a Special Assistant Focused Exclusively on Disability Policy
BOISE, ID – Vice President Joe Biden today announced Kareem Dale as Special Assistant to the President for Disability Policy. The Vice President, who was leading a Presidential Delegation at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Boise, Idaho, made the announcement during a stop at the Special Olympics’ Healthy Athletes Event, a worldwide program in which athletes receive a variety of health screenings and services.
“The commitment that the President and I have to Special Olympics and people with disabilities is deep and abiding. And we are backing up those words with real action at the White House,” said Vice President Biden. “This is our first step to ensure that we have a strong advocate for people with disabilities at the highest levels of our Administration.”
Dale, who is partially blind, will have direct access to the President in this role and he will coordinate the Administration’s efforts to see that people with disabilities are on a level playing field with all Americans.
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Dale previously served as the National Disability Director for the Obama for America campaign. He also served on the Arts Policy Committee and the Disability Policy Committee for then-Senator Obama.
Dale graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising in May 1995. He received his JD/MBA in May 1999 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating Cum Laude. While attending law school, Dale was also active in community service, including serving as president of two organizations, the Black Law Students’ Association and Open Forum.
