Post-Rush: Obama's message war
Politico ^ | 3/14/09 | Mike Allen

Beginning Sunday, the White House will harness every part of the Democratic Party’s machinery to defend President Obama’s budget and portray Republicans as reflexively political, according to party strategists.

A participant in the planning meetings described the push as a successor to Democrats’ message that Rush Limbaugh is the Republican Party leader. “We have exhausted the use of Rush as an attention-getter,” the official said.

David Plouffe, manager of Obama’s presidential race, helped design the strategy, which includes the most extensive activation since November of the campaign’s grassroots network. The database—which includes information for at least 10 million donors, supporters and volunteers—will now be used as a unique tool for governing, with former canvassers now being enlisted to mobilize support for the president’s legislative agenda.

Others involved in the planning included White House senior adviser David Axelrod; the DNC chairman, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine; and DNC Executive Director Jennifer O'Malley Dillon.

So, remind me, wasn’t Obambi going to transform Washington and usher in a new era of bipartisanship . . . or something?

"portray Republicans as reflexively political"

The only thing better for Republicans, would be to become innately political. We just don't live it and breathe it like the Left.

Which is how we came to be where we are. FR participants excepted, of course.

Oh hell yes. And Democrats are bambis, bunnies, pooh bears, pretty birdies, snow white, Cinderella, sleeping beauty and the good witch of the east all rolled into one. Those pure hearted Democrats don't have a political bone in their bodies. Agenda? Who? The Democrats? Don't be silly wabbit.

Obama isn't a fantasy/enigma anymore. Let the "Lefty Legions" push the agenda. They know it's BS. We have nothing to lose by saying to their faces.

Sounds rather reflexively political to me.

Ya, that’s what I wonder. Whatever happened to hope and change and being post-partisan and reaching across the aisle, and looking for good ideas, not Republican or Democrat ideas?

One question that came out of the whole Rush campaign sticks with me, which is, what about Obama debating Rush? I wonder how Obama would perform in an honest debate about policy differences?

Heck I wish we could have had an honest debate last year about these things in the campaign and presidential debates. I hope that in 2012 there can be an honest debate. By then, he will have instituted his socialist policies and we will see the bad results, and he won’t be able to blame anything on leftover Bush messes by that time.

Of course it did. They can't argue with Rush, because HE'S principled, and they're not! So now that realize they can't win on principle, they're going back to telepromptery campaign mode.

Yeah, so what does he do? He hires the three biggest hatchet men from the Clinton era as his close buds: Rahm Emmanual, Carville and Begala.

Newspapers out of business, nobody but old folks watching Katie Couric. Olberman and Mathews are sideshow freaks. Is the propaganda even working any more? I mean among those with an IQ higher than their pulse rate?

It also means they see sentiment swinging away from them so let’s chase their asses out of town now !
