The soon-to-be prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes that "a national emergency" such as Israel's involvement in a major war would help him in his frantic attempts to form a new ruling coalition.
Netanyahu, who is known as "Mr. Iran" in Israeli circles, has so far failed to gain the trust and support of opposition parties of Kadima and Labor.
According to a report carried by Debka, which is believed to have close links to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, Netanyahu is planning to settle for a provisional administration before calling for another early election in six months.
"His main consideration is that Israel expects to be embroiled in a major military confrontation in the next few months with Iran, Hamas or Hezbollah -- or all three at once," read the Debka report.
"A national emergency" would then compel Israeli rivals to join Netanyahu's government, unnamed political sources were quoted as saying.

I haven’t been following this story since Netanyahu was elected and didn’t know he’s not been able to form a govt. Not good since Israel is entering what could be it’s most perilous time.
Bibi is far more popular on FR and in America than he is in Israel, where he’s recognized as a chameleon like Bill Clinton, despite their supposed dislike of each other personally.
Debka and the Iranian government controlled Presstv?
Not worth quoting.
Iranian press quoting Debka?
All the while, the Reds are encricling te US - Soviet bombers coming to Cuba and Venezuela.
Broadcast the new acronym:
“Debka and the Iranian government controlled Presstv?
Not worth quoting.”
Worth repeating, and I should have taken the time to put it in all caps.
This is from an Iranian propaganda site. I don’t even see the original article they are supposed to be quoting from in Debka.
No, Bibi is not known as “Mr. Iran” in Israel. That’s foolishness. And no, Debka doesn’t know anything anyone else doesn’t know because things change hourly in the attempt to form a government. The narrow government looks to be on its way but parallel there are new talks with Livni for a broad-based coaltion. In the past these things worked almost like a close basketball game. Until the buzzer sounded, no one could predict what was going to happen.
Why is an an anti-Israel propaganda site being referenced as a source for news out of Israel?
poster has strange history
The history of Israeli politics is one of questionable “friends” and money like the current prime minister Olmert.
The names Peres, Rabin, Barak and Netanyahu, Sharon etc. have all had funny money questions in and around them with some charges sticking more than others.
Bibi also has some Clintonesque questions about his “personal life” in the past.
In Israel’s current atmosphere, a sort of Ross Perot named Lieberman has emerged with his Israel Beitenu party as the “third party”. Lieberman is being blasted as a trigger happy hawk to level him with the rest of the field in politics.
In the end Israel is a vision economically of what Barack Obama wants for us. More socialistic and dependent on bailout from the United States.
The big parties n Israel all talk tough and in the end cut backroom deals with enemies like the imfamous Oslo Agreement under American pressure.
Avigdor Lieberman has been talking of having “independent authority” if he is named foreign minister in a new government because he knows the tricks of politics and government in Israel.
Has Obama cut a deal with America’s Jewish leaders who supported him to allow Iran to be dealt by Israel with in exchange for givebacks to the Palestinians afterwards?
He's able to form a government, the question is whether he puts one together comprised of the right wing parties, giving him a 4 to 6 seat majority with a large opposition, or whether he can put together a unity government, including Labor and/or Kadima, which to a large eliminates oppoition. Parliamentary systems are odd, and the latter isn't a common result, but would be a plus in dangerous times.
Also, the analysis in the article comes from the Iranian government, the source is their official press service. Which is often entertaining, but usually less accurate than the NYT, LAT and WP.
PressTV is sourced out of Iran - totally unreliable source...
Link to latest status out of Israel:
Sources involved in political talks tell Ynet secret mediator examining possibility of forming coalition which would include Likud, Kadima and Labor. According to sources, President Peres aware of negotiations. On the agenda: Uneven rotation in role of PM between Netanyahu, Livni
Another good source directly out of Israel
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
Bibi is one of the few world leaders who completely understands the gravity of Iran possessing nuclear weapons, and there's not a chance in Hades he's going to let it happen under his watch.
Did Bibi not lose a son in an Israeli effort to rescue hostages from Africa somewhere?
Broadcasting the new acronym every day.
His brother Yoni was killed in the Entebbe rescue, ironically both the mission commander and the only Israeli fatality
LOL! Nonsense. - aside from the logical flaws in that statement -
Almost every jew is as far on the plantation as any inner city black.
Nothing needs to be done to appease them because they can't be run off that farm with a cattle prod.
In addition, the most known Jew in Congress, the left liberal Lieberman campaigned actively for McCain and was instrumental in helping McCain secure the Florida nomination.
multi-front war for israel...
well, never let a good crisis go to waste...
Keep up the good work! Eventually we can WIN.
Yep PressTV...what a giggle. I have a libby friend who has totally fallen into the Israel=Nazi Germany cabal. She seriously SENT me an Israel=Nazi Germany propaganda piece. Don’t say anti-Semitism, though, or the claws come out! She sent something from PressTV and I sent her the info about their backing. She responded by saying, “Just because it’s Iran TV doesn’t mean it’s wrong!” I said, “When it’s the ONLY source reporting the story, can you agree that it’s highly suspect?” She said, “Our news isn’t telling us the truth!” I said, “Yes, Amen...conservatives have been saying this for a long time now!”
Fun times we live in.
One of her other great sources is the Communist Youth Newspaper from Cuba.
Which reminds me, I need to change the paper in my cockatiel’s cage.

Apparently sick minds think alike. Obama is looking for an opportunity to take advantage of some national crisis as well .....
