Tempest, you’re one of the dumbest posters on this board. I’ve never seen a single post of yours that displayed any critical thinking. You post your feelings, and your feelings are not influenced by fact or reason.

You attack me for making a factual statement because it can be seen as a defense of Wall Street. I don’t defend Wall Street’s more reckless or foolish acts, but I respond to some of the more ridiculous and factually baseless attacks on this site. You’re so consumed with hatred for Wall Street that don’t give a sh-t about facts, so it’s unsurprising you end up on the other side of many arguments with me.

One thing for sure individual employee performance bears no correlation to the company’s profitability.

Well if past performance is indicative of AIG’s top talent then good riddance.

You wouldn’t know logic if it hit you in the face. I’d be shocked if you even graduated from college, given how poor your grasp of reason appears to be.

But imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I’m glad you recognize my attack was more eloquent than anything you could hoped to come up with.

Should now point out to you that teacher retirement is controlled by the fifty different states, if you come up with one that is not let me know.

Those who are screaming about honoring contracts should not be surprised at this.

AIG did not go bankrupt, AIG is honoring the contracts.

The corporation is correct in telling the obama administration to stuff it.

In fact more peopel should be telling the obama administration to stuff it.

True, but some will still be “nomenklatura”, those with Lear jets and status. And their stable of women are boys. And they will get those bonuses come hell are what ever.

So have no fear

LOL

Fine, have AIG honor their original contracts and give the tax payers money back. After that happens you may have a point, other than that dust off your wall street prayer rug.

I don’t understand why there aren’t shareholder lawsuits against the board of directors, CEO, and President. Their responsibility is to manage the company in the best interests of the shareholders. Clearly, this was not happening. I understand the payment of bonuses due to contratual obligations, but to approve contracts that include bonuses for destroying the company is not in the best interests of the shareholders. These people should all be personally liable— they got paid to loot the company....

The Treasury Department determined that the government did not have the legal authority to block the current payments by the company.

OK so the government won't have the authority to void these contracts and block these bonuses, but it will have the athority to void hundreds of thousands of mortgage contracts and force lenders to accept less than what the contract originally called for? Am I missing something here?

The federal government made a decision to bail out and not allow bankruptcy.

When the stories came out that the fed bailed out AIG in order to protect EUROPEAN BANKS! then it becomes even more henous.

The fact is that the first “buy” was non-voting preferred shares.

There is no sovereign imunity for the disregarding of contracts at whim.

Then let the charges and trials of the AIG scum begin.

Actually one only needs to look aat your post history to establish the fact that you have your lips locked titghtly around Wall Street’s buttocks. All the way back to laast fall when this all began.

You’re a pathetic human being.

yes, the mortgages are to be reviewed under an evidentiary arena of the bankruptcy courts.

Also it is not just a write down, the test is whether the debtor can pay the forclosure price. If this fair market liquidation is affordable by the debtor then they are essentially allowed to “buy” the asset as if they were any other buyer.

It is not a “freebie” house for a nickle.

The sad thing is that republicans backing crap like this is what allows them to be in office in the first place.
