How about some Clawback. I would like to see the political contributions made by these Wall Street firms almost exclusively to the Democrat party and/or candidates such as Schumer, Clinton, Obama and Dodd being returned to the taxpayers or to the victims of Madoff’s fraud.

yes.

AIG has been artificially proped up by an administration (s?) which refused to allow the process to work and committed tax payer dollars under the excuse of too big to fail.

The decision was made, and now the administration is using it to push class warfare.

how much fm/fm campaign contributions would barney frank have to give back.

perhaps politicians should be forced to give back or prohibited from taking campaign contributions from compainies which take federal money.

I was thinking more along the line of the teachers union. They are in much more control than it appears. They gave big donations for the election and like other donors are getting their way. I did a search of AIG and teachers union and got quite a few interesting sites. AIG is much larger than I had imagined.

Yeah I wish I had an AG job. Post $100 billion loses, borrow $85 billion and give out bonuses? WTF???

Yeah, me, too. But those bonus dollars will be divided up among precious few. Most of the people doing the support work won't see dime one and I wouldn't be surprised if many of them were already out of work. Which only makes it more heinous. If only these guys getting the bonuses would give chunks of it as a sign of appreciation for their hard work to the many people beneath them who help them with back office support to be the big guy, well, it would be less heinous.

So our tax dollars will give the big guys big bonuses and the rest of us can cut coupons and stick to our 'recession' living plans, knowing our tax dollars are making the rich even richer. Just what are our bailout tax dollars actually buying?

You should do the world a favor and stab yourself with your keyboard.

>>>> Objecting to ANY bonus for such an abysmal performance is not “micromanaging”. It is common sense. <<<<

Under the circumstances and the larger issue of brazen Socialism, the trivia of bonuses is too ridiculous to pursue.

Besides, you and I are not privvy to the facts and therefore the entire discussion is meaningless.

Do you know what the business judgment rule is? It’s a difficult (probably impossible) presumption to overcome in lawsuits like the one you propose.

No, it in fact means that AIG will be paying $165 million in bonuses and there’s nothing you or the Treasury Department can do to stop it.

longtermmemmory and I explained why it works the way it does. I don’t know why you disregard this. If you oppose the way the AIG bailout was conducted (and it’s easy to find fault with it), that’s one thing, but this is a consequence of that and at this point it can’t be changed unless the employees agree to give back their bonuses.

You sound like you want to follow Mao’s lead and kill all the intelligent and educated people in the country. Note that China found itself SOL after there was no one competent left to run things. It wouldn’t be the populist utopia you imagine.

Wow, if the “intelligent educated” people are responsible for the global financial meltdown. How intelligent or educated are they really?

Your stupidity and awe-inspiring arrogance has reached it’s brink, man. You’ve jumped the shark it’s time to end yourself.

A few of them took a gamble and lost. Some were genuinely foolish and greedy. But most had nothing to do with mortgage-backed securities and simply worked hard to provide a valuable service (finance in its many forms) you're too stupid to even understand.

I know you resent the fact that Wall Street elites have made some decisions that have cost you a little (something tells me you don't make enough money that you're really paying for much of this in taxes). It must feel frustrating to be a powerless peon who sees things happening he neither understands nor has the power to change. You've responded by lashing out indiscriminately at an entire class of people. More intelligent and reasonable people recognize that there's plenty of blame to go around, but that in many cases it's unclear who is responsible, and that it's certainly not everyone on Wall Street. But I can understand why you feel the way you do.

I wonder what benchmarks are being used to determine who gets a bonus. How do they gauge performance for stellar mismanagement! PIG is has received $170 Billion in tax payer money!!!!

Barney Frank said “the government should examine whether the bonuses are legally recoverable.” Should examine!!!! You have got to be kidding me. That’s French for a circus of federal hearings that give the appearance of competency as they give these lame corporate executives a stern talking too.

Hey Barney, PIG is not afraid of you!!!

**These bonuses are legal contracts that AIG can’t go back on**

Hello, that’s why we have bankruptcy court.
