It was the nearly unregulated market from around the Revolution until Teddy Roosevelt (the first bad Roosevelt, the second one was worse), that built our nation into the powerhouse whose vapors we live on today.

Sure we can. Lets do it right now.

Bush instead rescinded his corporate tax cuts to exporters, rather than face the penalties the WTO would have “imposed” on us. That was after many months of pleading our case (on our dime) to these dolts. I’m sure Obama will get us out of the WTO instead of telling them to pound sand, eh?

Syncro,

You seem to be somewhat aprehensive about “what might happen” in Mexico. I would be just as aprehensive about “what might happen” in most large cities in the U.S.

You said, that a certain person could not work there, because it’s Mexico ! Well, Yes it is Mexico and they enforce their laws in Mexico. Don’t you wish the U.S. would enforce the U.S. laws here ?

I have lived and worked in several places, in the Far East and Southeast Asia, for about 20 years and am not the least bit intimidated about the prospect of living in selected locations of Mexico or certain other Central American countries.

We did however, hammmer Toshiba, a japanese firm, for selling them high technology

Yeah, and Toshiba is a mere shadow of its former self today.

You can liken yourself to John Wayne if you want but all I see is a guy who obviously never paid attention in math class or economics.

On the contrary, I see I’m arguing with an idiot who does not understand what the value of an industrialized, as opposed to a post industrialized economy is or what it portends for our future.

Well I certainly hope you feel better now that you have asserted yourself so well on an internet forum.

I don't know who has been bulling you, but I'm sure you could kill them in a nano second. (if they have a gold tooth)

I certainly am sorry that my posts caused you to be so threatened.

I don't think I need to talk to your spouse, but thanks for the offer.

Show her your last post to me, I'm sure she will be impressed.

No smiley face for you!

You’ve been bulling me, but I forgive you.

Let’s meet in person. I’ll buy you a root beer and we can arm wrestle.

Goodnight, Syncro.

Even your name sounds sinister. I hope I can fall asleep.

Dear topsail:

I am not apprehensive.

There are things happening in Mexico, perhaps you aren't aware of the problems there.

It's not important.

No matter.

Just go to almost any border town, no problem.

I have talked to Military men back from Iraq that say it is safer in Iraq than in some cites here, such as Detroit. A moot point IMO.

Yes I do wish the laws would be enforced here in respect to illegal immigration, and most of the others too.

I also wish that the Mexican government would respect our laws.

Instead, they wish to ignore many of them and encourage their citizens to do the same.

Hypocritical to say the least.

They do not respect our sovereignty or laws.

I'm glad you would comfortable living in any of the places you mention.

So would I, and scores of other places in the world.

Thanks for the conversation.

Your such a wuss.

But seem to be real hung up on physical strength.

I'll have to use The Incredible Hulk for a stand in for the arm wrestling, or maybe Ruth from the bowling alley as I don't settle things with brute force.

Ruth has never been beaten in arm wrestling.

Yea, I picked the name because it is so scary.

Don't read this until morning, it might keep you awake.

Better yet tax all Money Transfers to Mexico at say 50%.

I can’t sleep, but I already defeated you with my mind, no?

Which argument did you use to refute the benefits and safety of Mexican truckers?

The logic and facts are on my side. You’re left with just ad hominem arguments, but they won’t work.

I am not up for a duel, so root beer and an arm wrestle would settle the ad hominem part no?

Yes you won.

You are the master of hyperbole. (Which trumps your accusations of ad homs)

I suggest you concede the arm wrestling, as that is your strong suit.

Being as you are staying up all nite, point out the ad hominem statements, numbering them for clarity.

I'll check back at 3:27AM

You didn’t use any ad hominem attacks that I saw. You just ignored my facts and logic or you just skipped them.

I was just joking about the physical stuff, really.

Don’t go.

I feel like I am in a Star Trek episode.

My “trade deficit” with my grocer, car dealer and local hotdog stand are enormous. Those jerks never bought a thing from me, but I am happy and so are they.

You forgot to include the trade surplus that you have with your employer. And if you do include that, and your net "trade" account is still in deficit, then you are spending more than you are earning and consuming more than you are producing.

Unless you are sufficiently wealthy to die before spending down or selling off all of your assets, good luck with that.

Their trucks are quite unsafe as a rule, and they want written into the rules that they are immune from having to maintain them up to the quality of American trucks.

Except that, in practice, the pilot program has been ongoing since August or September and these unsafe Mexican trucks haven't caused the carnage the protectionists were hoping for. Nor have they failed an inordinate amount of safety inspections, apparently.

Reminding the rest of us that you hold a trade surplus in services (just like the U.S. has with the rest of the world, by the way) because you hold a job has nothing to do about your goods trade deficit with the grocery store.

Good. Build the fence and sell them nothing

You told the truth in that one statement. A big help to all our problems. But oh! ! ! that makes too much common sense. (which none of them seem to have.)

What a great idea! Take legal American workers hostage and shoot them because illegal Mexican workers are taking their jobs! Brilliant!
