Posted on 03/17/2009 9:08:55 AM PDT by Zakeet
Since Barack Obama has been elected, gun sales and copies of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged have flown off the shelves. Meanwhile, there's a Russian academic all over the news predicting that America will soon collapse, "tea parties" springing up all over the country, and the stock market has been doing a great impression of Michael Richards' career since he left Seinfeld.
Is that because people have gone crazy? No, it's the reaction of sane people to the crazy as a football bat insanity that has begun to pass for conventional wisdom in large swathes of America. Living in this country today is like sitting in the back seat of a car that's hurtling towards the edge of a cliff at a hundred miles an hour while the driver fiddles with the radio and the guy in the passenger seat mocks the very idea of using brakes.
When sheer insanity becomes the new normal, people who can admit that the emperor has no clothes are left to point out:
What you subsidize, you get more of and what you penalize, you decrease. That's one of the oldest and simplest lessons in the book; yet it's one we never seem to learn.

A good, though by no means complete, summary of liberal insanity is contained in the article.
Don’t forget criminalizing self defense tools and possibly trying to outlaw self reliance by doing away with family farms and gardens.
And secondhand stores, yard sales, and charitable donations.
You left out: Making heros out of people who are scum and lawbreakers, giving them book contracts and electing them into high positions.
ohgawd, you forgot the normalization of perversion, public officials shouting down the pope, etc. etc.
Conservative is the new radical, dude.
Gonna be a whole ‘nuther group of folks that’ll take a dim view of that.
Now we have the Fed buying T-Bills. Something tells me that is a little inflationary. Time to look at gold again.
TownHall has to figure out how to make their pages load faster.
Does -”Tax payers need not apply for cabinet postions” need a separate listing?
Very good article. We went through the looking glass well before Obama, but his election is perhaps the greatest confirmation yet.
I know... depends on a bunch of other stuff as well, but with the markets as gerrymandered as they are now... Who knows.
People who don’t want to have to buy everything new.
Yard sales? Really... I musta missed that one...where’d you hear about this?
That would deprive Townhall the opportunity to spam the heck out of your desktop with zedoo pupunders.
It’s part of the “all articles children might touch have to be tested for lead and that stuff that starts with phth” rule. I understand it’s been temporarily suspended, but it’s only a matter of time.
“You left out: Making heros out of people who are scum and lawbreakers, giving them book contracts and electing them into high positions.”
This mental illness started to set in during the Nam years.
Traitors like Fonda, Kennedy, Kerry, Ayers and others, who should have been hung for high treason became heroes thanks to the criminally insane mediots who controlled the media.
Follywood re made itself and America haters and the Insane in Follywood became the new screen idols and gods.
Then, they made homosexual and their deviant behavior a wonderful lifestyle while making the normal people the bad people.
Abortionists became heroes while those of us who tried to protect the most innocent of all became the evil people.
Illegals became heroes and those who tried to enforce the immigration laws became criminals in the eyes of America.
Zer0’s onslaught against capitalism and the constitution are incredible. He has done more damage to capitalism and our constitution in less than 2 months than FDR did in close to 4 terms.
It's the socialist cow living on its own milk. You can only play that game for a short time.
Woe to those who call good evil and evil good.
The Consumer Products Safety Commission's new rules about lead content are putting a lot of eBay sellers and thrift stores out of business. But the rules cover any sales by anyone, including person-to-person, private sales, like a yard sale.
If you sell a used item, that was produced before mandatory lead testing began, and it contains any lead (eg - the ink in pre-1985 children's books, contains lead), you could go to jail.
Welcome to the new Amerika For The Children, Comrade Kim.
Ahhh....thank you both for the answer.
I guess when it comes to children’s products especially, I always wondered about things being sold that were dangerous/had been recalled and any liability. I’m a furniture painter and recently did a wooden toybox built in the 50’s. Frankly, I wasn’t sure about the lid and any special safety hinges it might now require. I suppose ANY items, except maybe clothes, could be at issue, but if it happens, will sure put a damper on my summer...I’m always in the mood for yard sailing ;)
Including clothes. Haven't you read about all the children who have died from eating secondhand clothes that contained lead and phthl-whatsies? Well, I haven't, either, but they *might*, if they ate enough of them! (I'm serious, unfortunately.)
Borack Obummer is a good person. But he is a victim of a demonic teleprompter, that makes him say and do evil stupid things. Save the world, steal the teleprompter.
Someone needs to design a teleprompter jammer. We have the technology. We can make the teleprompter work for good not evil.
“These are not the droids we’re looking for move along.”
It occurs to me that the older children’s books might carry more traditional values, less deviance, and less diversity. What better way to stealthily force us into politically correct book choices than banishing the older books under the cover of consumer protection.
This is akin to book burning.
Obama Nazi Socialist Marxist communists are DESTROYING AMERICAN HISTORY in order to DESTROY AMERICA.
