Bush: Obama Is Doing Just Fine

You probably wouldn’t expect former President George W. Bush, in his first speech since leaving office, to praise his successor.

But that’s exactly what he did Tuesday.

In a folksy address to 1,400 people in Canada, he expressed confidence in President Obama’s ability to mend the economy and financial system, Jason Enns, a financial advisor who attended the speech, told Bloomberg. Media weren’t allowed at the event.

“He told us: ‘Wall Street had a big party and now we’re dealing with their hangover,’” Enns says.

Enns said Bush told the audience that he expects Obama will do a “fantastic job” and that he will provide help and advice if Obama asks for it.

Bush told the crowd in Calgary, which is the base for much of Canada’s oil and natural gas industry, that the U.S. will need the crude extracted from northern Alberta’s oil sands, the largest reserves outside the Middle East, Enns said.

How else do you non-BDSers account for Clinton and Carter (I assume you meant Obama) getting elected?

Oh, gee, I'd probably start by pointing to the defections of guys whose demonstrably self-destructive approach to politics is illustrated, as follows:

I'm a Bush critic from way back. I didn't much care for his "Read My Lips" dad and really hated the way Junior's watch went.

The cool thing about this graphic is that when people see it, they think their private information (like their city or IP address) is being publicly shown on...When you see the graphic, you will see your IP. When others see the graphic, they will see their IP.
* * *

That is so cool!

Are you serious? Bush Bashing and Bush hating is the essence of this forum. Are you playing the victim role now and whining to the mods? Free Republic is a Bush Hating forum as bad as the left wing hateful sites like DU and Daily Kos.

Maybe he meant a "fantastic" job, not as "great", but as extreme, based on fantasy rather than truth or reality...

Just sayin'...

Get you zotted? Haven't you seen the hate against President Bush for the last few years on this forum? There is no difference between the hate Bush posters here and those on the left wing lunatic forums. Were have you been? Not a single Bush hater have been banned because he or she hates President Bush.

Most excellent post. They bash President Bush 24/7 and then they whine that they are not allowed to bash President Bush. The hypocrisy of these Bush haters is just incredible.

“I’m not going to spend my time criticizing him. There are plenty of critics in the arena,” Bush said. “He deserves my silence.”

Well you know that BDS applies to those republicans who refuse to see Bush-O-socialist as he really is, a SOCIALIST. Refusing to see and accept the truth = BDS.

If Bush thinks BAM is doing fine and America thinks Bush can’t tell his a$$ from a hole in the ground ...

How does that translate to how Obama is really doing?

“Obama is doing just fine” is the title of this article. It’s not something Bush actually said during the speech. He said that there are plenty of people that will speak against Obama but that Obama deserves Bush’s silence.

That sorta makes it clear that he thinks there are problems but he will let others point them out.

Not neccesarily lying, but everyone has their own interpretation of what someone else said and they often use their own words when they relate it rather than an exact quote.

C’mon, Merlinator, GW said things at the Clinton library opening about the creepy Bill and Hillary that made me vomit, and spouted accoldes that any half-intelligent person “knew” was pabulum. If he didn’t say this about BO, it surely sounds like him! Cordially, Bob
