In his book "Capitalism and Freedom" (1962) Milton Friedman (1912-2006) advocated minimizing the role of government in a free market as a means of creating political and social freedom.
An excerpt from an interview with Phil Donahue in 1979.
1. Excellent smackdown of Donahue (not that hard with an intelectually unarmed liberal)
2. BINGO! on political appointees towards the second half. He just nails why Obama appointed Hillary, and the rest of the beltway insiders.
3. DOUBLE BINGO! on capitalism creates prosperity and why Obama's plans are 100% guaranteed to fail. Obama is 100% clueless and history is going to spank him.
4. Notes it is the INDIVIDUAL who makes prosperity the government does nothing to create prosperity.
This needs to go far and wide, this applies to Obamanomics and why Obamanomis is just retooled Carternomics without the sweater speech.
We don’t have such great defenders of capitalism anymore that would argue with leftists

My favorite quote from Friedman.
“If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there’d be a shortage of sand.”
The government is in charge of garbage and we now have a garbage shortage. (recycling now costs more than it achieves, some cities even toss it into the landfills because there is no market for it but they still CHARGE for it.)

He told Donahue the absolute truth yet Donahue refused to see it or believe it. He should have asked Donahue if he (Donahue) gave all the money in excess of what he absolutely needed to survive to the poor.
Friedman also correctly smacked him down on the notion of “virtue” being a motivator. Virtue and pissing your pants both give you a warm feeling, but neither puts food on the table.

Remember his MSNBC show which, LITERALLY, had lower ratings than a test pattern.
Knowledge is the enemy of Obama. As conservatives we have to educate the public about their liberties. Freedom is not a theory in a vacume.

Minimize not eliminate. You just have to accept the fact as a necissary EVIL government is still an evil and must be given the same containment controls as that of fire.

We are government with laws and a police force. Depending on the market to police itself is like a football game without rules or refs.
and how many refs are there in a game? and where are they positioned? and their conduct is limited.
Obama wants 5 refs per player and all to follow him and each ref to have 20 support staff and the fans are to be unionized whether they want it or not. Oh and you are only allowed to cheer if the reffs give the cheer signal and then only the cheer specificed by the cheer committeed of the refs.
