Palin's legal debts pile up
Anchorage Daily News ^ | March 20, 2009 | LISA DEMER

Posted on 03/21/2009 11:48:57 AM PDT by fkabuckeyesrule

Legal bills have mounted fighting complaints that she called partisan, false and frivolous, starting with "the politically motivated Troopergate probe," Palin said in a written response to questions.

"I must defend against these baseless ethics accusations out of my own pocket as the use of public monies to do so could itself violate state law," Palin wrote.

"On August 29, it seems the political landscape changed in Alaska. Now, it seems in order to do this job as Governor, with the political blood sport some are playing today, only the independently wealthy or those willing to spend their income on legal fees to defend their official actions in office ... can serve," Palin said

Out of the 10 complaints, Palin said six have been dismissed, one had "concluded," and three are pending.

Zane Henning, a North Slope worker, filed a complaint in November after the election, accusing Palin of partisan "post-election damage control" for talking to reporters about the campaign in her state office. He said he wanted to stop that sort of behavior, and it seems to have worked, but he couldn't talk about the complaint further while it was pending.

Palin said she didn't think it would be fair to "sacrifice public monies to defend against something that was so politically charged."

"Obviously we cannot afford to personally pay these bills -- and really no future governor should feel the sense of financial vulnerability at the hands of those with a political vendetta bent on personal destruction," Palin wrote. "Some have suggested a legal fund to pay these bills. We'll have to pursue that."

Who’s financing her harassers? Maybe we need to check them out on Newsmeat.

She’s not just fighting Alaskan democrats, but the entire democratic party, who will spend anything to get rid of her. As frivolous they tried to make her to be, they are sure afraid of a pretty woman with a brain.

A countersuit for the legal costs... and pain/suffering would help put a kibosh on the less well-financed foes.

I guess Palin derangement syndrome is alive an kicking. The rats truly fear Sarah, and I fear that they will start recruiting rinos in Alaska to help out. I truly hope Sarah takes control of the Alaska GOP and starts cleaning house. I truly do.

It sounds to me as if she is having second thoughts about even running for governor again. I wouldn’t blame her if she told them to shove it.

“I guess Palin derangement syndrome is alive an kicking. The rats truly fear Sarah,”

Just as many Republicans hate her. Someone who really wants to have a smaller govt threatens those who benefit from a large govt.

And they are in both parties.

The courts are the standard avenue for liberals to achieve their ends...which is why they always seek to stack the courts with judges who don’t respect the constitution.

Because there are none on the left (if they had a brain they wouldn't be a lefty). rachel meadows (pictured below) is about as good as it gets.

Palin needs to hire a private detective to look into to the people who are harrassing her. She needs to find out who they are and who is funding them. It would be no surprise if all these people are being paid by the DNC, ACORN, MoveON and Obama’s SS.

It’s finally nice out where I live, so I was headed out to play. BUT, before I head out, I am going to write out a small check, see if I can find her home mailing address and hope it helps her out... perhaps others will chip in...

If she loses, we all lose, because this is how it’s done. This is what liberals do to people, what they did to Joe the Plumber was a prime example of what the left does to someone who is a threat. I wouldn’t blame Sarah if she came out, did a press conference and told everyone to kiss her ass, but she won’t, because she is a class act. I have never seen this in my lifetime, a human being being treated worse then a child killer. Casey Anthony has people sending her money in prison, a woman who murdered her daughter, yet Sarah Palin, who hasn’t done a damn thing in her life except want to help people, and cares about our children, gets treated worse then a pedophile. I have never seen anything like it. For those who remember when Reagan ran for President, was it this bad with him too..cause I have read some of the names that he has been called but was it ever like this??

North Slope Worker = union worker.

Washington DC hates and fears her because she is not corrupt and is an outsider.

Some people have said Reagan was shot because he was not part of the inside the beltway and Harvard/Yale club.

I had not realized that Palin was originally allocated $95,000 by the state to defend herself against the troopergate charges but refused to use the taxpayer money because she thought the charges were purely political.

Easy to understand why Fred Barnes describes her as having "eye-popping integrity".

Why isn’t the RNC picking up the tab?

Is this the message they wish to send to future candidates?

That if you decide to run, they will leave you to twist in the wind?

Good grief.

I agree that Palin should step down after one term. If she runs for re-election the media will bring her down and both parties are gunning for her too. Remember that Republicans hate her too. If she loses that will put her out of contention for the WH in 2012. She has enough executive experience - Mitt Romney & Jimmy Carter were only one-term Governors too and she still has far more experience than TOTUS.
