The name is the University of Notre Dame, not Notre Dame University.

If you went to the University of Texas, wouldn’t you think people who called it Texas University were clueless?

Notre Dame University is in Lebanon.

I think the pope is probably saddened by all this, but he knows that it is beyiond his powers simply to zap Jenkins. Even the local bishop can’t do much. The universities are private corporations who may be trading on the name of Catholic, but they have powerful protectors. Father Jenkins is what in medieval times was called an “over-mighty subject.” who was free to disregard what his king wished, unlss he went too far out on a limb. The Church in the USA is divided between “liberals” and “conservatives,” the former who are trying to redefine what it means to be Catholic.

No need to zap him. Sting his conscience and you’ve done your job.

Its not just Catholics. Rick Warren, mega-church leader and snake oil salesman, said Mama O would make a great president. I am also disgusted with other mega-church leaders who have had other pro-abortionists actually speaking in their pulpits. By doing so they put an imprimatur on that policy. It tells their members that supporting abortion is really not a biggee. A cursory reading of Scripture says otherwise, but some religious leaders love hobnobbing with the powerful, and would miss too keenly not being invited to the WH.

Obviously his “..above my pay grade” answer to a question on abortion at the Saddleback debate did not offend all Roman Catholics.

Bad Idea, Omama is a pro-abortion, secularist socialist, not someone the Catholic Church or Catholic run college should honor.

oldbill, do you have a link for this, or any kind of documentation?

I know that many Catholics voted for Obama; I wasn’t aware that the USCCB were in support in any way.

Obama’s approach toward the Catholic Church is very intelligent (from a pro-abortion point of view) and yet very insidious. He has appointed so many pro-abortion Catholics to so many positions of power. My belief is that is it his goal to undermine the authority of the Catholic bishops in the country by overwhelming them with the opinions and power of his elected Catholic-in-name-only politicians.

My daughter is a freshman at Notre Dame. We are sick about this. I would love to remove her from there next year, but she loves being there and it is a top flight education. I did not send her there for the religion factor, as we teach her this at home; teaching her the faith is completely my responsibility. We sent her there for the excellent education. We do have other children in secular collegiate environments as well.

At least with the state schools you know that you are receiving a secular education, and nothing more. They are honest in that regard. ND’s dishonesty is a gut shot. They purport to be a Catholic School, and then pull this crap (along with their insistence to host the Vagina Monologues).

I expected more than this from Notre Dame, and am severely disappointed.

I’m not catholic but I attended two catholic universities and am almost ashamed to admit it.

The catholic church didn’t do much for the people of Cuba back in 1959 when Castro was taking over, and I think they have been proud of Castro’s success ever since.

THANK YOU! This makes me sick....my first reaction was they’re getting a call from me...and you made it easier to do just that!

Seems many more Catholic Bishops have begun to speak out against politicians who support ‘the culture of death’, the term my priest used. But, had they done this a long time ago.......as they should have....maybe we wouldn’t have a President who supports killing fully formed babies.

Tomorrow, I will talk to my priest about this.
