If my son’s Ice Hockey team had behaved so rudely to a visiting American team (or to any visiting team for that matter) they would soon wish they hadn’t!
There is absolutely no excuse for bad manners and boorish behavior ever. Certainly not in a sport like Ice Hockey — which is a rough-and-tumble sport at the best of times — and certainly not against visitors.
If I were their coach I would be requesting penalties and sanctions against my own players. Then I would hang up my skates and resign out of embarrassment.
Shameful behavior. Our Canadian team who behaved so disgracefully ought to apologize immediately. That was entirely uncalled-for. More than that, it was un-Canadian.

This is a sleazy, disgusting show, and I’m ashamed of FOX for airing it. At least it’s relegated to the middle of the night — not too surprising since that’s when the sleaze element is most active.

I to was born and raised in Vancouver, and can confirm that Canadians are taught to diffentiate themselves by the many ways that we are not like Americans. That seemed to be our only sense of national identity, due to the “multicultural mosaic” that our gummint in Ottawa bought into.
But that’s a wee bit different to being taught to “hate” Americans — we aren’t. Not like what happens in the middle east or elsewhere in the world. We aren’t taught to burn US flags and we aren’t taught that Americans are evil.
We definitely enjoy conquering them in Ice Hockey, but as often as not the Stanley Cup ends up in the US.
I lived a few miles from the US border at Blaine, WA / Douglas BC, and I used to buy my groceries in the US, and my gas. I used to have American girlfriends and I was well-acquainted with I-5 all the way to LA and beyond: I had lots of American friends and I went to see them often. And they, too, had Canadian girlfriends and used to travel up here for Vancouver Canuck hockey games.
There was a rivalry, certainly, but it was healthy rivalry that was not “hate”.
The whole segment is silly - but so is the idea that the Canadian military should have to take a year off to rebuild.
Its Ok Canada, when we have time we in the USA will come up and take you over. We tried in 1776 and in 1812 and failed due to your British Friends. Remember —third times a charm.
Your provinces can become states 51, 52, 53, 54 and 55. Quebec can be independent they are too crazy and would be a pain in the neck to dominate. Don’t worry, you will like being Americans!
