After Action Report Raleigh NC Tea Party
Raleigh Tea Party | 03.22.2009 | ~Vor~

Yesterday I attended the Tea Party in Raleigh, NC held at the State Capitol Building. From talking to others, the crowd was estimated at about 400. Upon arrival everyone signed in and got their "tea bag" to wear. Tables were set up by the Americans for Prosperity organization and the John Locke Foundation. Food was served for the first 150 people arriving, and I apologize for not remembering the names of the two restaurants that provided the refreshments.

The crowd grew silent when the Star Spangled Banner began to play. Everyone stopped what they were doing, the men removed their hats and hands were placed over hearts. It was truly awesome.

We had 5 or 6 speakers and the favorite chant of the crowd seemed to be "Not One More Dime!"

Here are some pictures from the event. We didn't have the turnout that some other parties had (Orlando), but we were loud and got our point across. Supposedly, one of our local news stations arrived to make a report, but if so, I didn't see it on the 11:00 news last night. Big surprise huh??

There will be a Tax Day Tea Party in Raleigh at the Capitol Building on April 15th beginning at 6:30PM.

Were there any Obama supporters there?

Not any that I talked to or at least they didn't admit to it...didn't see any pro-Obama signs...a few anti-Obama signs...mostly everyone there was just demonstrating against the excessive spending going on in Washington...I would say the crowd was right on message for the event... I heard one guy at the Orlando tea party saying that everyone needed to come together with one message and I thought the Raleigh tea party did just that...less spending, less government and tax cuts...

I was curious as some Obama-bots have been brave enough to show up at some tea-parties. I was tied up all day I wish I could have made it.

There is one on the 15th of April if you can make that one in Raleigh...6:30PM at the Capitol Building...and there's an earlier one at the Federal Building on the same day...that one hasn't been confirmed yet the last I heard. I am going to the one in Edenton on the 15th...a little further from where I live, but I won't have to fight the Raleigh rush hour traffic...make plans to attend!

I go to night school and class starts @ 1730. If something is going on during the day maybe. If not maybe I will go to my local post office in Clayton and harass the sheeple and the EITC recipients.

Good pictures. It seems like there was a good size crowd.

The photos are awesome, Vor! Actually made me a tad teary-eyed. I kept hearing the phrase running through my mind as I looked at the photos: “These are my people.” My heart swelled. These are people like me. Who think like I do. Who work hard and believe as I do. These are my people.

Sorry to say I didn't take the pictures. I believe it was someone connected with the Raleigh New American Tea Party that did. There was a great crowd there estimated at about 400.

I think everybody that attended the tea party would agree with you. What a great bunch of people to show up. I am counting the days until the Tax Day Tea Party on April 15th. If there is going to be one somewhere close to you, please make plans to attend. I know it made me feel like there was still hope in taking our country back.
