Vice President Joe Biden told a joke about Barack Obama's birth certificate at the Gridiron dinner in Washington, D.C. last night.
The joke was reported by Mike Allen at Politico in his article about Biden's intentionally funny speech (as opposed to his usual foot in mouth routine.):
"You know, I never realized just how much power Dick Cheney had until my first day on the job. I walked into my office, and you know how the outgoing president always leaves the incoming president a note in his desk? I opened my drawer and Dick Cheney had left me Barack Obama’s birth certificate."
Numerous court cases have been filed demanding documentation by Obama that he meets the Constitution's requirement that a president be a natural born citizen. Obama has fought those lawsuits instead of producing the requested documentation. His campaign produced a document last summer it claimed proved he was a natural born citizen.

The point of the joke is notably vague.
One can only wonder what the Obama people could be scrambling for behind the scenes, and how much their birth certificate anxiety has increased with each passing day.
He’s a bigger idiot than I thought. That’s not even funny. Where is the irony? If there were any truth to it, or if Cheney were involved in the birth certificate issue, then it would have been funny.

It might have been funny if the birth certificate was found in the Rose Law Firm billing records that magically appeared in the White House a few years back.

I've posted this on another thread.
I viewed the Inauguration on live TV (I think it was ABC or NBC, I don't remember). When VP Biden was sworn in first (as is the custom), after he took the oath (interesting how he squeezed his eyes shut when repeating "without any mental reservation of any kind"), Justice Stevens said (as I heard it) "Congratulations, Mr. President." However, when I viewed the taped segment later on YouTube, I heard Biden saying "Thank you, Mr. Justice."
(In response to this, another FReeper posted that he/she had heard what I'd heard at the live broadcast on Jan. 20, so it wasn't just me.)
So, it's possible that everyone is in on the big joke, SCOTUS included. As far as they are concerned (according to this theory), it's really Biden who is President, it's only a matter of time (weeks?) before it becomes official, and the Constitution remains unscathed and the Republic remains whole.
Remember the “slip” of the tongue when Obama introduced Biden as the next “President” of the United States?

Actually, yes. I have considered that Obama's "people" keep this story alive to keep a segment of the opposition busy chasing the possibility and ambusing Supreme Court Justices with questions in public about matters that they are trying to get heard before the Court.
