Former WABC radio news anchor George Weber was found dead inside his Brooklyn apartment this morning after failing to report to work for two days, sources told The Post. Weber, who would have turned 58 tomorrow, was discovered in his bed shortly before 10 a.m. today with multiple stab wounds to his neck after his bosses, concerned that he hadn't shown up for work, called cops. Police sources said they believed Weber had been murdered some time on Friday evening. "It's tough to imagine things like this happening in our neighborhood," said one neighbor, who did not identify himself. "It's really unsettling." There were no signs of forced entry, but a police source said the bathtub spigot was running and neighbors said the apartment had been ransacked. According to his web site, Weber was a news anchor for the talk radio station for about a decade, before he was let go last year. Since then, he has worked for ABC News, which provides national network news to stations across the country, including WABC. His blog contained an entry dated Friday, recounting several unpleasant encounters with bedbugs in his apartment, and lauding Mayor Bloomberg for setting up a Bed Bug Advisory Council last week. A source said police initially visited the building this morning at 1 a.m., but got no answer and did not want to break the door down. When they returned nine hours later, a neighbor guided them to a side door Weber kept unlocked.

George used to be the new anchor early on when Sean's show was local, and he was a regular contributor on Curtis and Kuby's show, and on John Gamblings radio show. Most recently he was doing the top of the hour news for ABC network.

I wasn't a listener since I don't live near NY, but prayers for him and his family. Is this possibly a home invasion? Whatever, it's another tragic, senseless murder, and I hope the perp is caught soon and dealt with appropriately.
The bedbug thing kind of creeped me out, though.

It really is a safe neighborhood, so I’m sure the residents are shocked. And I think he used a laser treatment to stop smoking? It was heavily advertised at the time he was on WABC.

Fr Paul Keenan from Relion On The Line (WABC radio) passed away almost a year ago now. They use to joke around with each other after George gave the news on the hour.
They are probably have a good long chat now.
Wait till Fr Paul hears about Obama.

He was a long time host here in Denver before he went to New York.
I had heard him fill in for locals here in Colorado a few times in early winter,
and wondered if he had left New York or was filling in remotely.
I really liked to listen to George Weber.
RIP

Not much detail, but it sounds as if it may have been someone looking for stuff to steal for drug money.

“...a side door Weber kept unlocked.”
I can not imagine a police officer sent to check in a case such as this, not checking each and every door and window. Everyday policing would have the officer then contacting the manager or owner of the property for immediate assistance. Policing has changed over the years.

I was given a number @ WABC to call once because I had some extra tickets for the Freedom Alliance concert @ Great Adventure to donate.
George Weber is the person who answered the phone and we spent ten minutes chatting about current events and, who to meet at the will call window the next day. He was an affable guy and nice to speak with - prayers for him and his family.

When they returned nine hours later, a neighbor guided them to a side door Weber kept unlocked. You don't have to be a detective to realize something fishy is going on here. Even if true, someone close to him had to know about this "unlocked" side door, and used it for whatever nefarious reasons took place in there. Too bad all beat cops can't be as smart as detectives.
God save us all!

George would get very nervous when Curtis did his mob talk segments.
Kuby would always leave when that segment was going on.
I got a feeling between the Guardian Angels and Kuby's mob connections. They will find out who killed him.

When I ran Steve Malzberg’s website while he was at WABC I had occasion to meet many of the people there when I dropped by at the studios to see Steve. He did not sound his age, he had a great radio voice and like all the people I met at WABC had a very likeable personality. He was also a fellow Brooklynite and blogger. I will miss him and his blog as well as his voice at WABC. Condolences to his family and friends.
