9-10 Mentality: Obama Asks ‘How Many Convictions Came Out Of Guantanamo?’
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

President Clinton and his Attorney General Janet Reno treated the 1993 WTC bombing as a mere criminal matter, not the terrorist attack it in fact was. Is President Obama slipping back into that same, dangerous, 9-10 mindset?

Something the president said during the course of his 60 Minutes interview yesterday raises a red flag on the subject. Chris Matthews played a number of clips on this evening’s Hardball, including this one of PBO taking issue with Dick Cheney’s approach to the war on terror.

BARACK OBAMA: I mean, the fact of the matter is, after all these years, how many convictions came out of Guantanamo?

Better question:

How many terrorist attacks were prevented because the enemy was locked up?

Hey Berry! How many U.S. civilian lives and how many of our Troops lives were saved because these evil bastards were behind barbed wire?

how many convictions came out of Guantanamo?

He just does not understand the difference between enemy warriors out to destroy your country and everything you have and stand for, vs. criminals who want to take your money by force. He would have taken the Viet Cong and put them on trial. What a nightmare of stupidity! Their party is stuck on stupid.

It does reflect a Sept. 10, 2001 and prior mind set.

You don’t look for “convictions” as a measure of whether it was a good idea to have a prison there, because these guys are not in a civilian jail awaiting trial. They are prisoners of war, since we can’t call them enemy combatants any longer. But he’s hinting that they ARE civilian prisoners, entitled to all the rights of trial by jury and all the rest of our constititonal rights. He is wrong and should be called on it.

Exactly. We should not be talking about how many convictions resulted. These guys are not subject to a civilian trial in a civilian court. We are at war. These guys are not entitled to constitutional rights to a trial in a civilian court. His statements reflect a mindset that they should be tried in a civilian court.

Would we have won World War 2 if we had to read Miranda rights to all the captured German and Japanese soldiers??????

How many of those we released are now back working as terrorists? Honestly, on this subject Obama is being purposely deceiptful. Sadly, many of the sheeple will listen to him and agree with his subtrifuge.

Gee. Perhaps if they had been able to try them with military tribunals, THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN SOME “CONVICTIONS”.

What a steaming PANTLOAD inhabits that cranium.

Maybe BHO is onto something here. Let’s try them as common criminals. Then since they have not committed a crime on US soil we have no standing, but Iraq does. Let’s give them to the police in Iraq and let them work their subtle persuasion techniques on these poor misguided “criminals”. Soon we will have them confessing to all kinds of crimes and they can hang them at dawn. End of problem.
