Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.
This bills title is called Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education (GIVE). It forms what some are calling Obamas Youth Brigade. Obamas plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.

Can you say “Hitlerjugend”? I knew you could.
Skimmed over it, is this correct: If someone gets student loans, they have to serve a minimum of 3 months of mandatory volunteer service, and they cannot partipate or even think about any religious activities during their confinement?

This is the same group that might have supported midnight basketball in the 90’s.
I’ve skimmed the bill, it’s another leftie boondoggle with better funding (bailout trickle-down $$$$) but nothing to be exceptionally feared.
I’m totally against this program and legislation, but it seems inaccurate to claim that it’s prohibiting participants from attending church. From my reading, the bill simply declares that religious activities do not qualify as “volunteering” under the terms of the program.
the only problem with those images is people think they’re a joke
No doubt with significant brain washing as part of the 3 months.
links not working for me.
I can’t pull up the site. What part of the bill prohibits church attendance? What does it say?

Oh! But Islam advocates murdering unbelievers and terrorism so that would be allowed unlike judaism and Christianity which would be outlawed under the new regime.
Whats short for National Civilian Community Corps?

True - but eventually they will get the point across

I think your right, but it is still wrong....
Section 125 (42 U.S.C. 12575) is amended to read as follows:
SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:
(1) Attempting to influence legislation.
(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.
(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.

I am now of the opinion that the communists won the Cold War.
This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it. ....................... Oh? Do my grand children have to mandatory register for the Young Folk at age 8? Looks like they’re trying to get a little work out of those getting $$ for education. Too much BS going around about his, too much over reacting. I can’t see anything like a Hitler Youth movement happening anywhere in the USA, either on the right or the left. All this is Chicken Little garbage.
Sounds familiar doesn't it...CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, etc...
You’re an idiot.
I think it means you can’t do religious work as part of the “service.” That said, the whole bill is horrible and needs to be defeated.
Does that say “Si se puede” in Russian?
“Bite Me!” comes to mind.
That's not what it says. Read it with a strict interpratation, which is what the libs will do. No penumbras on this one.
Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:
Separation of church and state — carried to an extreme.
Where can I get an Obama Youth Knife?
Cannon fodder!
“I think it means you cant do religious work as part of the service.”
Read it again. Words mean things.
Try this link. There’s also a CRS summary that you may find worth reading.

That site is getting too much traffic because I posted this, I think...
I guess that’s a good thing for them :(
They would be FAR better off volunteering for the one of the reserve components or (heaven forbid) active duty!
Would this exclude volunteering at church soup kitchens, or anything that Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson does?

Okay...could you flesh this out...before I shoot my PC!~?
It could be read that way. Defeat the bill!!
***I’d like to see obama recruit some Muslims with this***
Good point.
Zero might try to keep Christian kids out of church...
but there’s NO WAY he would have the guts to deny Muzzie kids their right to face Mecca 5 times a day.
“The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization. That means no church attendance or witnessing.”
I wonder how many black Jehovah’s Witnesses voted for Obama? That is a largely black religion (not positive of the percentage) and they are serious about their proselytizations.
Welcome to the USAS, United Socialist American States
Themaskcomes off our Socialist President and he begins the dismantling of America from within....
That link proves nothing. I want to read a paragraph or a page just prior to the line that reads:
prohibited activities and ineligible organizations.
It’s just not logical. Clearly it is describing activities that will not be allowed to count towards the 3 month minimum service.

Again, is this what America voted for? Here is part of the HR1388 Bills wording:
SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.

Obama. No other gods before the One
It MAY be that these activities do not qualify as eligible for the volunteer program but that’s not how it’s worded.
