It had been one of the many points of contention against CNBC by the left-wing attack machine - that "The Kudlow Report" host Larry Kudlow was using his show as a platform to make a run at the U.S. Senate in 2010 against Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd.
Well, they're going to have to find another way to try to marginalize Kudlow, as they have with other CNBC personalities. Kudlow announced on his March 24 broadcast that he would not seek a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2010.
The CNBC host explained he was approached by the Republican Party to be a candidate, but said he never considered it "a serious proposition."

I think Kudlow’s past cocaine addiction would be wrapped around his neck. The GOP needs to find a clean candidate and a good one.
Would a Republican with a history of addiction be treated any different than a Democrat?
I seriously doubt that any conservative could beat Senator Dodd in a blue state such as Connecticut. RINO Simmons is probably the best shot for a possible GOP victory, but I seriously want both Democrats and RINOs to lose, at each and every political level, from now on.
Jodi Rell would probably have the best chance - but she is a RINO. No conservative is going to win in CT, but hopefully it would just be your run of the mill milquetoast moderate RINO like Snowe/Collins, and not an outright leftist like Lowell Weicker/Michael Bloomberg/etc.
Rell is far to the right of the two Maine uber-liberals.
Doesn't that outweigh his past?
Is this not a new man?
What about redemption here?
I would take him anyday compared to half the dolts in the House and Senate....
0, the current ghetto version of a president, is a former drug user (and maybe still is), so WTF?
The 19th Amendment screwed us good.
Poor Senator Dodd. He's really a good boy.
And they treated his Sainted Father so poorly too.
It's a Sin I tell 'ya!
Larry Kudlow has some serious chinks in his liberal armor. I might vote for larry to be chief dog catcher but would never trust him with people.
I don’t think Gov Rell is at all interested. She likes the governor’s job. I think a Senate race might be too tough for her. It would not be as easy as winning a full term as governor, as she did in ‘06. Dems are going to be really desperate to hold that Senate seat.
I am disappointed Kudlow will not run. But I guess he would not like the pay cut. He has a good forum now. I think with his media experience he could have raised a lot of funds and made the race competitive. I have not hard much lately about Shays running so I guess we are stuck with pro abortion Rob Simmons. Though I suppose if they convince Dodd not to run the Demo nominee will be a heavy favorite anyway so it won’t matter who the GOP runs.
Too many voters in CT also are “suburban moderates” who are just horrified a party will actually take a stand on issues. Many of them are former Republicans who have no problem with Demo extremism but when the GOP tries to run like Reagan they shriek about the party going too far to the right.
Glenn Beck could beat Chris Dodd.
Here’s the thing. In these ultra-blue states, voting for a RINO just ain’t going to cut it. It’s time to support independent or 3rd party candidates in these states.
