1 dead, one injured in Miami Burger King shooting
By ROBERT SAMUELS AND JENNIFER LEBOVICH
jlebovich@MiamiHerald.com One man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shootout inside a Miami Burger King on Tuesday, officials said.
Police said a man wearing a ski mask walked into the store at Biscayne Boulevard and 54th Street and demanded money from a clerk.
A customer, who has a concealed weapons permit, pulled a gun, said Officer Jeff Giordano, a Miami police spokesman.
The customer and robber exchanged fire.
The robber was shot dead at the scene.
The customer, who had several gunshot wounds, was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in serious but stable condition, said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami Fire Rescue spokesman.
At about 4 p.m., officials got several 911 calls reporting people shot inside the Burger King.
I love a (relatively) happy ending.
But what I want to know is: Were the last words the robber heard “Where is your god now?”
Gotta love the concealed weapons permits...
Do we get free fries with one dead robber?
I just came from MickeyD’s and only got a little burger and a McChicken sandwich. The chick is much better than the little roadkill specials.
“The robber was shot dead at the scene.”
Good.
CCW saves the day - AGAIN
I love a happy ending. Not, it’s I love a happy meal and a dead robber, to go, with ketchup.
What? No toy?
If the hero hadn’t been wounded, he’d probably be in trouble.
liberals will want the customer charged with murder or manslaughter
perp, rot in hell.
“The robber was shot dead at the scene.”
Good shootin’.
the only problem was their soda machine had broke, Co2? but the sweet ice tea was good too...
I was actually surprised that it was that good. The other ones were not that good. The McChicken had pepper on it, the other ones had not.
Brave CCW in Miami. Not for his actions to take down the perp but brave for eating Burger King food. ;-)
Seriously - pretty awesome job but sad that perps do stupid things like this. The CCW may have saved the employees lives at BK.
The CCW saved the public from future crime and taxpayer money.
Fast food can be fatal.... take a gun.
Too bad the CCW allowed “an exchange” of fire. I’d wager his opening line will be doubletap to the head next time he finds himself in a similar close up situation.
I started reading the comments at the miami herald article and could not find one supporting the perp. Everyone was conservative and supportive of CCW and the 2nd amendment. Even Obama bashers there.
Where did ‘O’ get those Florida votes anyway?
Oh that’s right, ACORN was counting the votes, never mind.
Not here in FL. If you decide to commit a violent crime, you pretty much sign-up to become target practice for any CCW holders who happen to be in the area.
Florida can be a goofed-up state in some respects, but the gun laws are some of the best in the nation.
Original article here:

I searched for it expecting it to be an AP article, due to the terrible “article name”.
The title said nothing about a robbery and it said nothing about a CCW holder stopping the robbery.
The title would lead you to believe that it was about another senseless murder. It was not.
Great post / thread and they showed proper Gun control, until this....
McDee's Tea really sucks (too sweet / weak...not "southern-made")...
3 Lipton Family Tea Bags / 2 qts water....
steep 5>10 min. after boil.
LOL!
I think the gun laws are good because the old blue dog Dems in the north and central FL are pro gun. They and the Repubs overrule the libs in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County.
Thank Gov. Bob Martinez (circa 1980s) for CCW. CCW license aps in FL are off the charts since the chosen one became the ineligible POTUS. They had to hire temps to process the flood of aps.
FL also changed the law recently where you had to retreat if the perp was retreating.
Even before that - the law is a CCW can do whatever it takes if the perp is threatening or or harming someone. So if a perp has a gun on a clerk - you can take em down.
Wife is going tomorrow for her CCW permit. Everyone else in my family already has theirs.
"Have it your way."
At least in Hawaii, the local Burger King is a prostitute hang out.
Have it your way...
I have mine, but have been neglectful lately about carrying. This article has given me the wake-up call I needed!
Tea is much better for you than gut-rotting soda.
nah...CCW.... armed robbery in progress...grease em...
Same here in my state.

Nope, I LOATHE ccw. Why should I have to beg permission from government (and at the same time call attention to myself) to exercise my GOD (not government) given RIGHT?????
Where have ya been AAA ? Miss yer posts friend !!
“Where did O get those Florida votes anyway?”
It is amazing to me how any gun owner can be an Obama voter. (I CAN see them being an uninformed Democrat). Unbelievable how even on gun forums they will come to the defense of Obama - even when it comes to guns! (”So, has Obama knocked on your door yet to take your guns? Didn’t think so!”)
I have to think at close range like that one would need a speed rock and half a magazine into a target holding a weapon ready. These days the punks value of life is moot. You can not assume if you don’t resist etc they won’t try and kill you for their version of sport.
Shoot move repeat till threat is STOPPED.
The armed customer DID save everyones life...Not may have...
No greater love have a man, than to lay down his life for his country(men)...
I believe this applies nicely...
Thansk for the update.....
Thanks for the update.....
Actually, I'm sort of amazed. With an overwhelmingly antigun citiy police force and city administration here in Miami, the cop's PIO (Public Information Officer) actually said on camera that this man's actions, while lawfully armed probably saved lives and that his courage is to be commended. Coulda knocked me over with a feather! Didn't even include the standard litany that cops usually preach under successful self defense scenes: This was a heroic action but the civilian was very lucky. We always advise that citizens just submit to the crime and live to become a great witness for the prosecution.... yada yada yada. That didn't happen here, I was listening and watching closely. I wonder if the spokesman got into trouble from the antigun chief of police, John Timmoney? Probably.
It's been almost 15 years since I lived in FL, but IIRC liberal Democrat governor and later Senator Bob Graham vetoed two "shall issue" CCW bills while he was in office. When Martinez was elected in the mid 1980s he signed the current FL CCW law, which has been the model for many of the CCW laws that are now on the books in most of the other states.
The FL media went berserk when the CCW law was enacted. I remember the Tampa Bay talking heads and newspaper columnists ranting abd raving about how blood would be running in the gutters of every town in FL and armed citizens would be having wild west shootouts over parking places, but somehow that never happened. Instead, IIRC the FL murder rate went down about 25% in the first five years after the CCW law was signed. Not only that, carjacking in the Miami-Dade area had become too risky with so many armed citizens, so the thugs only robbed, beat, and killed people who were driving cars with rental tags because that meant they were unarmed tourists. The state had to change the auto tags so that rental cars couldn't be identified and unarmed tourists would not be so obvious.
They did go beserk with the “Dodge City” crap.
Bob Martinez was a good guy and far better than Miss Charlene Crist.
