Nearly one-third of Americans under the age of 40 say satirical news-oriented television programs like The Colbert Report and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart are taking the place of traditional news outlets.
Thirty-two percent (32%) of adults ages 30-39 believe this to be true, while 42% disagree, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
Thirty percent (30%) of those ages 18-29 say programs like the two Comedy Central shows that feature news reports with a comic twist are replacing traditional news outlets, but 35% disagree and another 35% are not sure.

Now you know, in part, why a guy like Duncan Hunter can't get the time of day, and a guy like Obama waltzes into the White House.

They are really into non reality. Too bad it’s starting to hit them right square in the face.

Too bad its starting to hit them right square in the face. Most of them haven't gotten through with their 8 years of college. Of course with mom & dad's 'college fund' getting shredded, they might be 'mugged by reality' sooner than later

100% of this freeper hasn’t turned on the TV *except* Comedy Central since Jan 19.
Jon’s trying a (joo) MSM takeover, Steven’s trying to defend rationality as he knows it.
I just wait around for Southpark.

The views and tastes of the young are often very feckle, so no worries. Besides, I’d rather watch Colbert or Stewart than Katie Couric also.

If the MSM was actually doing its job, Jon Stewart would be taken as seriously as Soupy Sales was back in the day. The popularity of “The Daily Show” and the “Colbert Report” is a symptom of (mostly) young people turning their backs on a mainstream media that is not only biased, but, perhaps worse, lazy and decadent.

somehow Mark Russel (of the old comedy specials on PBS) makes stuart and cobert look like potty mouthed kindergardners.

My wife was worried about some young kids playing baseball in the lot next to our house. We can't let the dogs out and we have to be careful where the cars are parked, I was thrilled that young kids were outside actually playing sports without a video console in their hands.
They will not be the %30 who watch phony news because they can't handle reality.
