To hear GOP Chairman Michael Steele tell it, his recent donnybrook with radio host Rush Limbaugh - and his subsequent apology - were all part of a grand "strategic" plan.
"I'm a cause-and-effect kind of guy," Steele told CNNs Don Lemon on Wednesday. "So if I do something, there's a reason for it... Even it may look like a mistake, a gaffe. There is a rationale, there is a logic behind it," he said.

It was Bob Beckel that stated on Hannity's program that Steele is a formidable opponent, and that he needs to be respected. Now, this could simply be a ruse to get us to support a weak Republican too, I know this, but Beckel seemed very sincere about his experience when engaging Steele.
RINO “strategery” ping!
I’m sorry, I don’t think he’s formidable at all. ‘Pod.
That’s funny, because it was a strategic plan on the part of Obama’s team as well. Who says that the parties can’t agree on anything!
So at some point he should spill beans.
Yeah, it was part of my plan the whole time, yeah, the plan. Don’t mess with me cause I’m a freakin genious, a genious with a plan, yeah, that’s the ticket.
I’ve learned a new definition of “strategic” today.
Like the guy who trips on a crack in the side and says, “I was trying to do that.”
Yes, it was all part of my cunning, secret plan!
>> Steele is a formidable opponent, and that he needs to be respected.
Oh really?
Then he can DAMN WELL EARN IT.
He’s dug himself a VERY deep hole with me, as far as respect is concerned.
I would respect him if he resigned though.
A Bbeckel liberal will try to make you think because Steele is black he will have a tough time being critized, since that is the way Obama is being handled.
Steele will not escape the wrath of conservatives as they do not play that way with the social consciousness. They will call it the way it is and give Steele as much criticism as he deserves, regardless of color.
Liberals are awash with guilt and enough of that cleanser was sprinkled on the populace to get Obama elected.
It will not make Steele more formidable at all.
Steele is going to have to either accede to the GOP’s platform, or yank out a plank that will cause major lossage of GOP voters to spoiler parties.
He’s crazy if he thinks the GOP is going to succeed minus a hefty pro-life plank.

"I meant to do that!"
LOL
General Custer claims it was his brilliant strategy to get surrounded while outnumbered by the Sioux at Little Big Horn.
King Guy of Jerusalem claims it was “all strategic” as to why he was captured and his army destroyed at the Horns of Hattin.
And there is no way American forces are near Baghdad, the fierce Iraqi fighters will drown them in their own blood.
Sheesh.
Beckel is a smarmy weasel. "Sincere" is on the other end of the field from that corpulent toady.
I agree. I like Steele and I think he’s an excellent choice for RNC chairman. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t make mistakes; we all do. I didn’t follow this kerfuffle enough to make any real judgment.
Is this the nerdy boy in Junior high looking at the hot high-school cheerleaders and running into the 2 foot wide column and saying “Oh huhu I meant to do that!”
“Mike, ‘I meant to do that!’ didn’t even work for Pee Wee.”
Well maybe you should have?
Steele made an ass out of himself.....IMO.
>> judge him by upcoming results
I’m curious. Precisely what results do you anticipate?
Electing more squishy big government RINOs to Congress?
Attending more racist conferences, and pandering to more Black Supremecists?
Passing a global warming tax to rape all of America?
Throwing more conservative principles under the bus?
Taking away our guns?
Seriously. What? What do you think this boob will accomplish that will make me say “Wow! I was wrong about Steele!”
Time to can the vague BS and put your cards on the table. Or else go away.
Yeah, that’s the ticket.
“I meant to do that.”

This is the most ridiculous excuse for being a screw up that I’ve ever heard. So was Rush “in on it”? Was Rush taking Steele down to the size of a grasshopper terd “part of the plan”? If Steele was being serious when he said this, then he is delusional. He needs to go. Period. NEXT!
Hey, we have an election cycle upcoming in 2010. Let’s see where it goes. Steele isn’t going anywhere.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no rabid pro-Steele-er. I’m simply saying I didn’t know enough about him prior to being RNC chair, and what I’ve learned about him overall seems promising. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. That’s all I’m saying.
Besides, eating our own is EXACTLY what Choco-Carter wants us to do. I’m not giving into Zero’s desires so quickly.
What an @sshole.
Exactly!! Now he is proving that he said exactly what he meant to say (which I didn’t doubt at the time) and that he likes to play RINO suck-up to the Mediascum. I am VERY disappointed with this man already......
— an “ugly” right-winger —
Yeh - it’s sort of like doing 100 in a school zone to minimize the time the kiddies are at risk. Terrific strategy.
I actually did what the pic is portraying when I was about 2 years old. Got the crap shocked out of me.
“Cat Haiku”
Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.
Steele is total idiot.
As long as Steele is running the GOP....you are pretty much voting for liberals. As long as this fool is in charge of the GOP I am not wasting my conservative votes on any candidates he pushes
I just don’t have the time to follow everything that is happening today. I wish I did.
I understand...........
I don't trust Beckel, he is dem slime supreme who is highly "respected" at Fox News (and is allowed to talk over conservatives) as well as Juan Williams who has raised to prominence just after the election with his liberal spin just because he is black.
>> what Ive learned about him overall seems promising.
That’s my question. Like what??!? I need examples. Because I don’t see jack about him that is promising.
I started out giving him the “benefit of the doubt”, even though I feared he was a gun-grabber. Didn’t take him long to erase all doubt! The Rush thing, and going to that Black-pandering conference and, well, pandering to Blacks, were the last straws.
>> Besides, eating our own is EXACTLY what Choco-Carter wants us to do.
Be careful with your assumptions about who “our own” and “us” are. I AM NOT a Republican. I am a conservative. Steele is NOT a conservative. Therefore, he isn’t one of “mine” and ripping him out and replacing him with a conservative would in no way be “eating my own”.
I only touched the prong of the electric plug while it was still half plugged in. Zoweee!
When the Democrats offer Republicans advice about how to win elections, or tell Republicans what a formidable opponent they've nominated, etc., it's best to figure the Republicans have made a horrendous mistake and act accordingly.
.....”Beckel has also worked as a consultant and, in 1984, campaign manager for Walter Mondale”.
“He became a born-again Christian in late 2000”.
“In 2002 Beckel was involved in a controversy when he paid a prostitution organization $1,900 in personal checks, and then was blackmailed for an additional $50,000. Beckel reported the incidents to the authorities and resigned from his current political positions”.
I’ll pass on Beckel’s judgment, thank you
BWAHAHAHAHA!
Only a fool would think he is anything but what he appears.
