New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

Talk about your fevered prose!

Watch out everyone, I think we have a case of assault with a deadly keyboard:

And perhaps a committee can be appointed to find out these things, and to take statements and affidavits; and also to gather up the libelous publications that are afloat;

And all that are in the magazines, and in the encyclopedias, and all the libelous histories that are published, and are writing, and by whom, and present the whole concatenation of diabolical rascality and nefarious and murderous impositions that have been practised upon this people—

That we may not only publish to all the world, but present them to the heads of government in all their dark and hellish hue, as the last effort which is enjoined on us by our Heavenly Father, before we can fully and completely claim that promise which shall call him forth from his hiding place; and also that the whole nation may be left without excuse before he can send forth the power of his mighty arm.

It is an imperative duty that we owe to God, to angels, with whom we shall be brought to stand, and also to ourselves, to our wives and children, who have been made to bow down with grief, sorrow, and care, under the most damning hand of murder, tyranny, and oppression, supported and urged on and upheld by the influence of that spirit which hath so strongly riveted the creeds of the fathers, who have inherited lies, upon the hearts of the children, and filled the world with confusion, and has been growing stronger and stronger, and is now the very mainspring of all corruption, and the whole earth groans under the weight of its iniquity.

Not just diabolical rascality, but the whole concatenation of diabolical rascality!

We're doomed.

"..It could be well be someone wanting to cause friction between FR and Mormons.."

Bingo. Considering the tactics of our adversaries, that would be the first tree to shake. Just because the average person would never operate this way, does not make it unlikely.

The things in this world that unite us should far exceed the things that would divide us.

Dear Jesus, that site is too funny. Are you sure it isn’t a spoof?

Look at this from the site:

“Reply by Greg West on March 24, 2009 at 5:53am
I had not previously included grayfoxx39 on the anti-Mormon list, although he has appeared in other discussions, sometimes critical of the Church, other times somewhat supportive. During one of the discussion threads in the above list, he admitted that he is apparently a long-term inactive member or former member. However, during one of the more recent discussions, he betrayed sacred covenants and made statements that would serve to give aid and comfort to the anti-Mormon side. From now on, he will be listed as one of the antis on FR.”

What is betraying sacred covenants?

Religious intolerance directed at a number of different sects pops up fairly often on and off the Religion forum, Jim. I’ve been repeatedly condemned for my Calvinist beliefs on several threads.

Because the church where I attend services welcomes everyone with no preconditions to lifestyle, views on reproductive issues or religous belief, I have been accused of supporting abortion, embryonic stem cell research, gay lifestyle, and sex orgies.

The moderators do a good job on the Religion Forum, but I still see bias among posters on news and chat.

Any Mormons who claim religious persecution from FR are either delusional, have a hidden agenda, or are thinned skinned.
Reminds me of the woman who sued McD’ because the hot coffee was hot.
The problem is, although it was a foolish idea from a fool, the fool won.

Mormons of FR, answer me this:

If Mormons believe in Jesus and Jesus said Christians WILL be persecuted, and he didn’t say to whine about it, what’s up?

Where is your proof? I am on many Mormon ping lists and I have not heard anything about this. This sounds like a creative way to get people riled up against Mormons. I expect better than just accusations and rumors. I have not had any problem donating to FR since 2001.

This is no myth Freeplancer. Here is the link to the open site in question.. And YES I am on his little list. This little log was started by a former freeper "gregwest" who came back a couple weeks ago as SpamLDS. He started baiting and insulting Freepers in an attempt to lure them to his blog site to debate in a fair manner. He was zotted by the mod for pimping his little social site (80 members) among other reasons. Before his SPAM closed their blog to registered members only, reading the posts made DU look tame at times.

He abused his privileges here and now is crying victim status.

I don’t know what that site is or who started it but I am disappointed that someone would think practcing LDS would behave like the anti mainstream.

restornu, as you and I have sparred on Romney threads, I am relieved and happy to see this response. :^)

Reading further in the thread, I see that it hurts your feelings to be painted with such a such a brush as to underwrite a bad deed bent on sabotaging a good thing like Free Republic. But pardon me if I misunderstand, isn't being a tithe-paying Mormon a bit like being a member of the Teacher's Association or the RNC, where the money goes where they choose, even if you oppose?

I share your frustration, though ... it's as hurtful as being painted with the brush of religious bigotry and "hatred" that, as we both well know, pro Romney people are very apt to do to folks like me on Free Republic in threads that seek to thrust Romney onto the GOP stage.

Yeah generalizations are like that but it is hard to take such reasoning seriously given the fact that Romney got 9 out of 10 votes of self identified Mormons during the primary. If he hadn’t been Mormon a man with his not so conservative record would never have had a chance. It reminds me of the black vote for Obama. Racism and religious bigotry cuts more than one way. At least blacks did as they always do they vote liberal Democrat. I’ve never seen so many Mormon Republicans vote for a liberal Republican before so I can only surmise it must have been because he was a Mormon.

Well I’m LDS but I understand FR is your house, and your rules. If other LDS members are disgruntled about this then kick em out, that does for anti-LDS members too.

Far as the mormon, catholic, evangelical, and whatever else bashing going on around here people should stop worrying about other peoples beliefs and deal with the Constitutional Usurper claiming to be POTUS. Let God deal with the differences in belief in him later, let us mortals deal with things we can handle now.

I think all religious posts should be disallowed, or given defined sections of FR within which to post away from the main public traffic.

The Mormon threads are almost always posted exclusively the Religion Forum. You don't need to read the threads.

History show that a people divided is a people soon to be conquered.

Let’s focus on what our common bonds are as humans.

Your religion isn’t going to allowed to flourish if the country isn’t free.

What any of you could do to another religion will PALE IN COMPARISON to what the collectivists could do to you.

That looks like the handy work of Ron Paul people I have come across a lot of youtube on the what our prophets have said and can’t post them as I would like to use them because Ron Paul face is stuck in there he is not even LDS.

I was looking aone today but could not use it because a Politcial machine has usrup our prophets to me it some exstream LDS who is misuning the words of the LDS prophet
that is a no no I would not even do it for Romney!

Biblical things our are about people as whole to wake up!

I love what the Prophets warn but who ever did this is misusing the Church for their gain very bad

I love sharing the Book of Mormon minus Ron Paul!

I am not sure but I think this one is tainted with Ron Paul The Book of Mormon and Freedom

If you wouldn't say it to someone standing directly in front of you, you shouldn't say it online just because you can.

Yes indeed.

And it's a mighty tough temptation to always resist! But it's always worth striving for.
