“We are not willing to have Americans killed to remove all doubt.”

The immediate result of an EMP detonation as described would be 0 fatalities. Since no deaths directly caused the UN would not authorize any deadly retaliation. Don’t forget Obama will take his orders from the UN. And any EMP over the backward civilization that the North Koreans have wouldn’t do any harm.

1- Japan wasn’t as dependent on electronics as we are now
2- the bomb wasn’t detonated at a high enough level to cause emp

AND

3 - today’s bombs are as much as 100 times the magnitude of the WWII ones.
4 - today’s chip circuits are 1,000s of times more susceptible then the vacuum tubes of the 1940s and 1950s.

I think a bigger issue would be that after the bomb dropped we did help the Japs back on their feet....I think that if we are seriously bombed, there will be a focus on extermination of US peoples by our enemies.

As I said, he’s a politician.

Show me a policy that he’s not conservative on.

Let the critics discuss among themselves, we need fighters to correct this mess.

I couldn't agree with you more...problem is too many that are supposed to be on our side end up reaching across the isle and letting us down

Newt was an awesome leader in the 90's and I respect him very much for what he did but that was then and this is now.

The GOP is nothing more the the dem party of the nineties. If we're going to take back this Country, it isn't going to be with the current crop.

Where are they, do you see them or anyone out there explaining a Conservative vision? Hell, conservative women like Bachmann, Coulter, Malkin do a better job than our current leadership.

No one with the exception of a few will even call zer0 what he is, a socialist, marxist ENEMY of America and I'm f'n fed up with the whole lot of them

The SOB just took over the auto industry and the GOP says NOTHING.

Meanwhile my busines, along with many others, is tanking, I'm down 60% so far this year, damn right I'm pissed. I am sorry, but just because Newt comes out and says something, which I agreed with BTW, I am not going to get down on my knees and start worshipping him.

Tomorrow he'll be back on the couch with Nancy, no thanks.

Correct. Note that nary a post discussed the topic of this thread, Newt's assertion regarding nuclear weapons.

Oh, and also unsaid is Newt's greatest achievement. Newt brought down a 40 year rat Congress.

According to the clowns here, this 90% conservative is a rino.

The rats did to Newt as they did to Bork, Thomas, Armey, GWB, Libby, Palin and others.

Newt is more of an American than every single democrat infesting the government today, and I would vote for him over them every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Yep.

I have a hard time using the words "nuke" and "don't worry about it" in the same sentence.

I’d rather have newt’s narcissism than lose, which is what republicans did after he wasn’t in charge

Newt's numerous abject failures as Speaker were one of the main reasons why Bill Clinton got re-elected in 1996.

The magnitude of that statement is astounding, isn't it. Dick Cheney is right. Obama’s decision process is a danger to our national security.

A high altitude detonation, delivered by IBCM would come with a return address. For that reason, it won't be sent.

"One" or even a few wouldn't wipe us out, but it could quite well wipe out some other nation.

Since this is more the reality, then the big "it" boom-in-the-sky won't be launched from some other nations actual lands.

That leaves several other possible scenarios, none of which are pretty.

I'd prefer it if it came by ICBM (as Newt is rather ridiculously postulating is the present threat) for it would make nailing the sending party into the ground FUBAR'ed for nearly forvever, simple, simple, simple.

Newt is "close", and for some aspects, close does count -- in regards to nuclear weapons, but he's not quite precise. He might be ok as political historian, or even a politician himself, again, buy I'm glad he's not a ranking General in the Pentagon. He's no military tactician/strategist.

RINO.

He went idiot. [Rant]

What he said in this article has been said by numerous other people already.

Newt was on some show on Fox the other day, I think maybe Gretta's show.

He praised Clinton and the way she was working hard on the Border problems. (Clinton then says US guns are arming the cartels) GRRRRRR.

Newt blamed the US people for the drug wars in Mexico, because we are an addicted society. He blamed the people of this country ... Not the politicians who have created these stupid laws ...

STF Newt. The War on Drugs caused the Mexican cartel wars, not actual American drug users - People in every country, since the beginning of time have used drugs.

Outlawing anything makes it go criminal. The government forgot that lesson from prohibition. Newt surely is part of the stupid drug policies gang of politicans.

Constitutionalists my foot. Just another typical washed out politician trying to remain relevant. Go have another affair or something, stay off my TV. [/RANT]

Newt wasn't the only one.
I just have two words for you:

FBI Files...

Political survival over principle. If anything, it's gotten worse.

What, exactly, is wrong with his expressed concern?

Read the second sentence in your post #51.
Hard to puzzle out his motivation.
