Sen. John Kerry: Mexico's war must be our war (Anti-gun screed disguised as foreign policy op-ed)
The Los Angeles Times ^ | March 30, 2009 | Senator John Kerry (D-MA)

Posted on 03/30/2009 1:48:11 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Last month, a hit squad sent by a Mexican drug cartel brazenly broke into the homes of nine police officers in a ranching town in northern Mexico. They kidnapped the officers, piled them into a convoy of SUVs and sped off into the night.

After being summoned by local authorities, troops from Ciudad Juarez, 80 miles to the north, located the convoy and fought a running gun battle with the kidnappers. When the smoke cleared, 21 people were dead, including six policemen who had been tortured and murdered before the soldiers could save them.

Even in Mexico, where a spiraling drug war has claimed more than 7,000 lives in the last 15 months, the scale of the violence was shocking. But in one respect, the shootout represented a breakthrough.

Soon after the bullets stopped flying, a Mexican military officer called a trusted U.S. contact and offered to let American officials inspect the weapons taken from the hit men. The guns were mostly AK-47 knockoffs, and U.S. agents traced them to a dealer in El Paso, just across the Rio Grande from Ciudad Juarez. The dealer was already on trial for arming the cartels. He now faces new charges.

How can someone in the U.S. sell "machine guns" to the Mexican drug cartels? Does this bufoon even know one thing about this issue beyond what his twenty-something staffers tell him?

Mexico is a gun banner's paradise. Most citizens can not legally buy or won a gun. So why is it not crime free?????????

Kerry is dumber than a box of rocks.
Unfortunately, he gets to open his gob in public forums.
Hopefully his constituants will recognize the situation in time for the next election cycle.
I would point to him and laugh but only because assault carries penalties.

It's not about what John Fn Kerry knows or doesn't know - it's that he counts on the ignorance of those who support Liberal dimocRATS - that ignorance allows him to get away with saying almost anything and still getting the “sheople’s” support to gut the Constitution.

Even assuming the US is a weapons source for Mexico, wouldn’t a stronger border suppress trafficking of all sorts in both directions?

From Washington Post (6-01-03) JOHN KERRY: HUNTER, DREAMER, REALIST

And who is he, really?

A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case.

“Who told you?” he demanded as he reached inside. “My friends don't know about this.”

The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying.

“My good luck hat,” Kerry said, happy to see it. “Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia.”

Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead. His blue button-down shirt and tie clashed with the camouflage. He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun. He looked silly, yet suddenly his campaign message was clear: Citizen-soldier. Linking patriotism to public service. It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry.

He smiled and aimed his finger: “Pow.”

True but most of the weapons come from other countries because they are fully automatic. The cartel is a paramilitary organization trained by us. WE trained their police and then the cartel bought them off. They know special opps and have grenade's, rocket launchers, fully automatic weapons. We are talking thousands of weapons here. To think that they come from America is just ridiculous. But we are talking about Senators here so I am being redundant.

So a single dealer may be corrupt and may have violated the law. If so, he should be jailed - but how can this justify disarming the American public and eliminating our right to buy similar arms? After all probably 99.9% of guns are never used in crime.

Of course, to expect the likes of John F’ing Kerry to engage in logical thought, to expect them to give a rat’s arse about our rights, to expect anything pro-gun to come out of Washington or the leftist-controlled media is simply a pipe dream.

[Along with third world sources, the heavy hitter in supplying military weapons to Mexico is China. Vessels laden with firearms for Mexico, and illegal Chinese immigrants destined for the U.S. through our southern border, are smuggled into Western Mexico ports as a matter of routine. Both the human and firearms cargo are controlled by Mexican crime cartels.]

JUDGE TOSSES CASE AGAINST GUN SHOP OWNER (March 18th)

State prosecutors suffered a public setback in efforts to combat border violence Wednesday when a judge dismissed high-profile charges against a Phoenix gun dealer accused of arming Mexican cartels.

The case against George Iknadosian, owner of X-Caliber Guns, had been covered on national TV broadcasts and in stories by the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

But in mid-trial, all 21 counts were dismissed by Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Robert Gottsfield, who decided he had found a flaw in the government's case.

Names Jacque, names. Or least the name of the dealer.

You know Jacque, the killer who shot up the nursing home North Carolina used a double barrel shotgun and a .22 rimfire rifle. Gonna ban them too, including your trusty goose gun?

I like this line: “Mexico is not the failed state that some pundits..blah..blah.. blah...

Boy, John “did you know I was in Vietnam” Kerry sure glossed over that one didn’t he?

I’ve got an idea, let’s become like Mexico! We’ll let 0bama and the other commiecrats march us down the path to socialsim. We’ll turn in all our guns (I know, hang on) and then we can have the 3rd world drug subculture problem that Mexico has! I love it.

Oh, wait, we already have that problem in some of our larger cities, like Washington D.C., Detroit, Cleveland, L.A., Chicago. All bastions of liberal socialsim.

Then we can finally have hope, change and peace.. coom-by-ya, coom-by-ya.

Maybe Kerry should lead a team up the Rio Grande in his Swift Boat and deal harshly with those evil drug dealers. I mean a man with his daring and tactical skill...

These are the laws that Kerry, Obama, Pelosi, Holder, Holt, and Feinstein back:

1. An expanded HR 45, gun owner licensing. All gun owners will have to have these licenses, even owners of facilimie weapons (AKA Airsoft and BB). Licenses will only be granted if the records of the applicant are clean (This includes misdemeanors from decades ago). Licenses will have high renewal fees ($100-300/yr). Licensees will be required to hold $1 million in liability insurance. Possession of otherwise permitted weapons (See #3) without license is a felony.

2. Ammunition accountability... All ammo will be required to be microstamped and will be taxed $1/round. All non stamped ammo will be required to be turned in or thrown away. Possession of non-marked ammo is a felony. This part of the act also bans “Cop Killer” bullets. Furthermore, this will require the gun to leave a microstamp of its own on the ammo. (BTW, this will also affect law enforcement and military ammunition stocks, as they will be required to have stamps of their own)

3. Expanded “Assault Weapons” ban— This includes most all semiauto rifles, anything that can be “Bump Fired”, Semiauto handguns, and Semi-auto shotguns. It also includes pump-action shotguns and “Sniper Rifles” AKA your deer rifle. The AWB will also require people with “Prebans” to register their guns as Machine Guns, and that the tax stamp will go up to $10,000 per weapon. If you can’t afford this, you have to turn the weapon in without compensation...

4. Expansion of the Lautenbach amendment: Removes “Domestic Violence” as disqualifier to gun ownership, inserts any misdemeanor as disqualifer... Anyone with a misdemeanor on their record will be prohibited from owning a firearm. This includes DUI and traffic offenses, and offenses decades ago.

Finally, all CCW permits will be voided. Also, all gun and ammo imports will be banned.
