There are a handful of times in life where you get to experience something that has the feeling of brushing the presence of greatness. In my life at various times that has been something I didn't always realize up front. But having returned from a day and a half and a sum total of nine events over that period of time with one person in particular I have to tell you... I think I did this weekend.
In December of 2006 I wrote a column in which I was the first pundit in America to predict that Barack Obama would be president in 2009. I predicated that theory on a number of variables, but specifically foreseeing the possible match-up against a candidate John McCain, I felt that the overwhelming historicity of the race, the lack of specifics that the substance would come down to in the debate, and the inability for a candidate like McCain to take Obama on squarely would work against him, and in favor of Obama. Boy did I call that one...

Why would a solid conservative vote for the Obama CYA, Bill of Attainder 90% AIG tax ?
Politico asked, and he gave nonsensical answers:
“This is a messy situation when you have a government owning 85 percent of an institution,” Cantor said. “None of us want to see that kind of government intervention in the markets. Now I hope this is a signal that we better have an exit strategy so that the government can put a plan in place and get out and let the markets work again.”
Asked when he’d made up his mind, Cantor dodged again.
“Considering the sense here, we want to reward success, not failure,” he said. “I don’t think there’s any business out there across this country that would allow for bonus payments ... to be paid to their employees if they failed. That, to me, doesn’t make any sense.”
But will there be anything left to want to lead after 8 years of Obama? :)
Agree completely! And yes, Cantor is a fine one in the wings.
I surely have no explanation why anyone would vote for anything that is so obviously unconstitutional. I can only think this was an aberration, considering his being so solidly and consistently Conservative in the past. That is one, his mulligan.
I am still trying to square away how Palin is for capping emissions and yet does not think global warming is anthropogenic. And now Cantor, as well as a few others, shock me with this 90% AIG tax vote. Is enough to make you bleed from your eyeballs.
John McCain is still trashed here on a daily basis as being every bit as bad as the Obamanation, and a lot of folks who voted third-party or didn't vote at all are still proud of their choices.

First of all, the American people are not ready to elect somebody who believes the earth was created 6000 years ago. Second, if they are going to elect a fiscal liberal, it’s going to be a democrat (well, forgetting about GWB for the moment). And finally, I think we’ve had enough Arkansas Govs in the white house for the next 100 years.
This nitwit (Huckabee) torpedoed Romney. How much better would Romney have been on economic issues then the current clueless White House occupant. Thanks alot, huckster!

I can’t imagine these damned idiots whose first instinct when the Left tries to destroy promoters of a conservatism is to grab their rifle... and join the Left.

I’m not sure I TRUST his sincerity on immigration reform; He seems to have been a campaign-trail convert on the issue. But how much of a triumph is it that he understands that immigration reform is a winning issue?
Huckabee’s immigration reform plans were copied straight from the Center for Immigration Studies, and were perfectly in line with NumbersUSA, who rated his plan an A+. The only thing slightly disquieting about it is that it literally was copied straight from the Center for Immigration Studies... it seems something heartfelt and central to his campaign would have been a little more introspective.
I would not vote for Huck.
Huckabee is good at faking sincerity.
He is opportunistic to a fault. He is cynical while playing a wide-eyed Middle American. He is exploitative and internally divisive. He combines many of the worst characteristics of politicians into one complete package.
That is to say nothing of his policies.

I thought my Zags could run with them. I was dead wrong, at least for that game.
That's the negative side of the "one and done" nature of the NCAA tournament, focusing on that last game without putting the season into perspective.

He was used as a foil in West Virginia when McCain's people cast their votes for Huckabee in order to rob Romney of the win here.
The heck of it is that I could have lived with Huck for president a lot easier than I did when I held my nose and voted for McCain in the general.
Cantor’s the whip; he is going to vote with the party because that’s his JOB. The question is what will he do when he’s an independent agent.
Ha Ha Ha Ha! I just checked this out! Eric Cantor is the WHIP... and he STILL didn’t make the top 50 scores by the ACU... as WHIP!!! Can you imagine how much of a monstrously huge RINO you have to be to miss the top 50 altogether when you’re the bloody WHIP???
He even voted for the financial sector bailout.
