Lately I’ve been consuming as much conservative media as possible (interspersed with shots of Pepto-Bismol) to get a better sense of the mind and mood of the right. My read: They’re apocalyptic. They feel isolated, angry, betrayed and besieged. And some of their “leaders” seem to be trying to mold them into militias.
At first, it was entertaining — just harmless, hotheaded expostulation. Of course, there were the garbled facts, twisted logic and veiled hate speech. But what did I expect, fair and balanced? It was like walking through an ideological house of mirrors. The distortions can be mildly amusing at first, but if I stay too long it makes me sick.
But, it’s not all just harmless talk. For some, their disaffection has hardened into something more dark and dangerous. They’re talking about a revolution.
Some simply lace their unscrupulous screeds with loaded language about the fall of the Republic. We have to “rise up” and “take back our country.” Others have been much more explicit.
For example, Chuck Norris, the preeminent black belt and prospective Red Shirt, wrote earlier this month on the conservative blog WorldNetDaily: “How much more will Americans take? When will enough be enough? And, when that time comes, will our leaders finally listen or will history need to record a second American Revolution?”

The Left believes that 51% of the voters have the right to coerce 49% of the population, except when they infringe on rights recognized by the Left. They see nothing wrong with a government being financed only by heavy taxes 5% of the population, designated as the "rich".
On the other hand, when the unwashed masses have the wrong views, for example on homosexual marriage, the Left can create a "right" to homosexual marriage regardless of what the majority thinks, as done most recently by the Iowa Supreme Court.
Right-leaning Americans are supposed to sit still for it, even if the system is rigged against them by reimposition of the "Fairness Doctrine", campaign finance laws that muzzle people not in the mainstream media, "hate-speech" laws used to criminalize certain views, and government schools partially used for indoctrination. When things reach a breaking point, they may not.
What’s funny about this is that one need only change “right” to “left” and this entire piece could have been written at any time since about 1960.

What does this guy think the Second Amendment was enumerated in the Constitution? The Framers knew what Big Government could do and wanted citizens to have a chance to fight “oppressive” government.
The Left wants to take over the country without a shot being fired because they hood-winked the stupid young and paid off the welfare class to win a plurality in ‘08. After all the blood shed by people much more valuable than they, they think we should forget freedom and don the serf’s rags without a whimper because they are now in charge. I read a statistic that said 40% of the population did not vote or threw votes away, which would indicate that only 30.6% voted for the lefty and 29.4% voted for Sarah. Hardly a mandate!

Congress starts dismantling the Constitution and instituting COMMUNIST policies, taking over economic and automotive businesses wholesale, they’re suggesting now that Obama should have the discretion and power to completely shut down the internet, they’ve proposed anti-Free Speech laws, they tried to pass a Bill of Attainder law until they figured out we KNEW what it was, they’ve created a “volunteer” CIVILIAN POLICE FORCE that Obama wants as “well-trained, well-equipped, and as well-funded as our MILITARY” and while “volunteering” you lose all rights to free speech, freedom of worship, freedom to speak on political issues, etc... AND then they are putting together a committee to make it MANDATORY, and they want to house OUR CHILDREN all in CAMPS??? That woman who spoke right before Obama was inaugurated said the following, “What we are witnessing is a “peaceful transition of power”” And, she wasn’t talking about just a Democrat taking the place of a Republican. She was talking about a COMMUNIST taking over our Republic! They’ve got it all planned out and they are COUNTING on a resistance because they KNOW it will come — it ALWAYS does when COMMUNISTS take over a country... It’s a simple case of Cause & Effect. Tyrants take the rights of the people, and they fight back. One only needs to look at history to know what happens next...
And, most of the people in this country are completely blind and uneducated to the point where they either don’t have a clue, don’t understand, or just plain DON’T CARE what’s going on.

Let's be honest, historically, whenever either form of government consolidates power, suppression of opposition is the rule.
The difference in the case of the US right, though, is at the root of what it IS to be truly conservative--the primary right is the right to be left alone, to follow one's own path in life.
We need to get this message out, even if it means facing tough questions about what we are willing to do and more importantly NOT do in terms of interfering in people's life choices.

If the government is stupid enough to believe that the 40% of people who DIDN’T vote are “on their side” they’re are even bigger idiots as well. I’ve known a lot of people who don’t vote because they are so completely disillusioned ALREADY — even BEFORE Obama. And, there are also a lot of people out there (like those border guards) who are not ALLOWED to vote. Does the left REALLY believe they are ALL on their side?
Heck, we’re not even discussing how many of those votes were fraudulent! Anyone else notice how we hear NOTHING now of those raids on ACORN by the FBI? I am not familiar with the Left being systematically suppressed in America. The proof is that they have been allowed to grow to the point that they now control the institutions where they were once a minority voice.
