Top Obama adviser David Axelrod sharply criticized Dick Cheney's recent contention that the president's national security policies have made the country less safe, suggesting the former vice president is not behaving like a "statesman."
[President Bush] has behaved like a statesman," Axelrod told CNN's John King on State of the Union regarding the former president's decision not to criticize the new administration. "And as I've said before, here and elsewhere, I just don't think the memo got passed down to the vice president."
In an interview on State of The Union last month, Cheney said the presidents decision to reverse a series of the Bush policies with respect to the war on terror was putting the country's national security at risk. (Video below)
"I think those programs were absolutely essential to the success we enjoy, of being able to collect the intelligence that let us defeat all further attempts to launch attacks against the United States since 9/11," he said then. "I think it's a great success story. It was done legally, it was done in accordance with our constitutional practices and principles

In Hussein’s perverted world, dissent from his policies is not patriotic.
Too bad, Hussein. There are millions of us out here who disagree.

Al Gore sure behaved like a ‘statesman’, completely vanishing from public life after Jan. 22, 2001. Anybody have any idea what’s become of him?/s;)

So wait a minute. Zero can go on stage and pronounce that the economy sucks because of George Bush, that the world hates us because of Bush and his "dangerous" policies, and he gets a free pass. But Cheney so much as blinks and he's not being statesmanlike?
Nah. No double standard there.

Former President Bubba Clinton played at being President for nearly eight years, beginning on Jan. 20, 1993; just couldn’t stand not being on the stage. Dick Cheney, being quite a different kind of person, has been very quiet, but when he spoke had something of substance to say.

I guess this article proof someone in the White House got their feelings hurt =)

Cheney’s acting like a wise experienced old hand who loves his country. Axlerod is not. None of them are.

The reciprocal portion of Axelrod’s statements is that the new administration is not supposed to bash the previous administration.
Notice, that this axiom need not be mentioned or questioned by the media.
Go Cheney!

Yes, he has - but does anyone remember the clintons and their bush-bashing when they left the White House. Grafitti, "W" keys missing from keyboards, etc. Childish, sophmorish stuff. I notice that Axelrod didn't mention that.
And speaking of lack of class and cave-man antics, what was up with commiebama attacking Bush during the inaugural speech? Was that "statesman" like?
Liberals are like a TV in a busy bar...it drones on in the background but no one is paying any attention to it.

David Axlerod is a clever little twerp and his comment about the former Vice President is idiotic. Leftists can dish it out, as they did to Bush and Cheney for eight years, with a vengeance, but a calm, factual assessment of the Obama regime by V.P. Cheney is not ‘statesman’-like? Gimme a break!

Perhaps Mr. Axelrod should have a conversation with Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter abut their not behaving like statesmen. The hypocrisy of the Obama administration knows no bounds.
To: The Great RJ
I hope that Dick Cheney continues to speak out. He owes the current administration and the Democrats no debt of respect.
Cheney’s dry, matter of fact style is difficult to counter and attack, especially when they know Cheney is right.

Hey, don't forget Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and even Obama himself.
All of those "leaders" were calling Bush a failure and an incompetent and a disaster and bad for American, and most especially, they were hoping for Bush's failure..
With democrats, criticism can only flow one way. They love to dish it out, but they sure can't take it.

So Clinton, Carter...... shooting their mouths off is OK, but Cheney is wrong? Got it.
Some are more equal that others.
I always loved Cheney and Rumsfeld. These two men had no ambitions after their stunts as VP and SECDEF. Highly experienced, dedicated, no nonsense, these guys were guided by facts and figures, common sense, and an understanding of what is necessary to keep us safe. People like Emanuel, Obama, H. Clinton are the antitheses of these two men. Those folks are political hyenas, jumping on BS bandwagons like Global Warming when it's popular. Thank God that at least for the last eight years these men were at the helm. Let's hope that they did enough damage to the bad guys that even if we go into full blown retreat we simply ride on the momentum of their legacy.
