Obama backs Turkey EU accession
Mr Obama said Western nations should engage with the Muslim world US President Barack Obama has arrived in Turkey on a two-day visit, after giving his support to Ankara's efforts to join the European Union.
He said Turkey's accession to the EU would send an important signal to the Muslim world and firmly anchor the country in Europe.
But French President Nicolas Sarkozy said it was up to the EU itself to decide who joined the bloc.
Correspondents say security is extremely tight for Mr Obama's visit. Snipers and riot police have been deployed and military aircraft are patrolling a no-fly zone over Ankara, AP news agency reported.

Quite right. Turkey did not allow the 4th ID to cross in from their land in the effort to topple another Hussein. This president is a damn sell-out. Waiting for his term to end will cause cardiac arrests for many.
The Germans under Schroeder promised Turkey support for EU membership IF they do not allow us access to their territory to open a northern front. The Schroeder government in 2002 picked an anti-war course to salvage the elections and they sabotaged us within NATO, the UN, Europe and in reference Turkey. At every turn, the Germans and French at the time were trying to screw us, putting the lives of American troops at risk and costing the US billions. We already had ships unload and troops on the ground with an agreement in place when the Germans threw EU membership on the table and the Turks backed out of their deal with us.
Of course Schroeder is gone now and the more Conservative Merkel and CDU/CSU/FDP is opposed to this idea.
However, as far as we should be concerned, absolutely! Politically support Turkey entering the EU!
Look at this as payback.
We should support Turkey entering the EU. Otherwise you had them screw us and not reap the seeds they sowed in 2002-2003.

The idiot does not even realize that the muslim nations are engaged with the Western Nations.They are engaged in a War to destroy western Civilization.
I bet the European are just now beginning to realize that Obama believes he deserves to dictate to them everything about the EU including when to go to the bathroom (arrogance Bush never had).
