How Many of Us Have Pro-Gun Workplaces? (Vanity)

There's been a whole lotta shootin' going on out there in recent times.

Just wondering how many Freepers are employed at Companies that prohibit firearms on the property.

I am curious as to how common a practice that is. If you don't mind, please sound off on what your Company's policy is, whether you are the Employer or the Employee.

Anything you could add, regarding any incidents of violence, use of firearms in self-defense, etc., at the workplace, would be most appreciated.

I plan on using the information I gain as "ammunition" to get my Employer to reverse its policy prohibiting firearms. Thank you in advance for your help!!

I am a Agricultural Pest Control Adviser licensed in the State of California. I have my vertebrate pest endorsement on my state license. I carry a Ruger Model 77 .223 with a Leopold 3 x 9 for ground squirrels. I can smoke them at 200 plus yard with this rifle. I also carry a Ruger Model 10/77 bolt action .22 long rifle for areas where noise is a concern. I also have a CZ 75B in .40 for the various meth labs around the agricultural fields I work in. Just tools of the trade.

I work from my car so, if I had a gun, I guess I could keep it under my seat.

in the drawer marked G-J,

At least you've got it in the right drawer, yep, "G for Gun"...I like your style.

Being prepared is always better than being sorry, I'd say.

"Many facilities prohibit cameras too"
Why is that to inhibit industrial spying?

Some of our divisions work in rather government-sensitive areas. I have no problem with such a prohibition in such areas -- but in my building we persuaded the corporation that our facility deals with *nothing* that is government-sensitive, so we can keep our cameras and camera-phones.

We require a minimum caliber of .38 spl/9 mm parabellum.

carrying a .380 is grounds for dismissal.

It really helped that the boss was with me that day so he could experience the spine-tingling feeling of entering a dark room to find people that shouldn't be there.

I'm glad you brought that up. It's a shame that, so often the decision-makers live in "insulated little worlds" that don't allow much ugly reality to get in. If my employer rejects my pleas, then I shudder to think about what may have to happen to get them to see the light.

My workplace has an official company policy of no weapons of any kind in the office. And there is no security. Nada.

Some psycho with a Mossberg pump could just walk through the front door and really ruin a lot of weekends for a lot of families.

However, the “lunch” I carry to work every day is very, very high in minerals. Very.

Isn’t the M&P a GREAT firearm! I love mine and can shoot better with it than any other pistol I’ve ever owned.

I salute your bravery. Someday you may be a hero to some kid whose father or mother makes it home instead of being killed by a thug. (You might also get fired, but I get the feeling that wouldn’t be the end of the world for you.)
