The Shameful Disenfranchisement of the Military in New York’s Congressional Race
NRO ^ | April 02, 2009 | Hans A. von Spakovsky

Posted on 04/06/2009 4:12:58 AM PDT by blueyon

Only 25 votes separate Republican Tim Tedisco and Democrat Scott Murphy in the special election for New York’s 20th district. That means the winner will be determined by 6,000 outstanding absentee ballots.

According to the Department of Justice, 1,300 overseas voters requested absentee ballots, 471 of whom are military voters. Unfortunately, it is the military voters who will probably end up being disenfranchised and having their votes discounted, thanks to the irresponsible New York Board of Elections and the half-hearted actions of the Department of Justice.

The problem for military voters in places like Iraq and Afghanistan is that it takes so long for absentee ballots to make the trip by mail from county election officials in the United States to bases in combat zones overseas and back again. As a result, only a tiny percentage of their votes get counted.

This is outragous. The DOJ asked for a ONLY a 5 day extension on on military's absentee ballots.(Wonder whose side they are on) The Military suggest 60 days, many places have asked for 45 days so their votes can count.

FREEPERS PLEASE TAKE A STAND AND FIGHT FOR OUR MILITARY WHO OUR FIGHTING FOR US!

Please voice your outrage every where you can. Join online papers and make comments. Call the Senators (not that that will help-but they need to know they are being watched) Most people to not even know this is going on. Wake them up! Do it for our men and women in the army, navy, marines, national guards etc. It’s time to take to the streets. Takeovers happen when people just roll over and whine. Papers, radio, right wing lawyers need to get involved, congress needs major heat right now. Rush needs a heads up as well as Glenn Beck and Hannity. Freepers run with this and don’t let the left win!!!!! Inaction equals defeat. I will try to post papers email address later today.

Yes. This is a very common tactic of the dems. It’s got to be exposed as another facet of the culture of corruption.

But the military is evil and they shouldn't be allowed to vote! /s

Sorry for the misspelled words. I was so full of anger and rage when I was posting this. Folks, please contact Rush, Sean, Drudge or anyone who can get the word out about this.

Why, in God’s name, is Tedisco not making this an issue? Why is he silent? Is he afraid to offend his good friends across the aisle? The same friends who would cut his throat, rape his wife and sell his children into slavery?

Why Jim? All America wants to know. Isn’t America worth fighting for?

But I thought the democrats were the ones screaming “count every vote!” in Florida in 2000....

I guess they just mean the votes of the welfare cases and illegals.....

It’s a sure sign of where we’re headed as a society when welfare queens and illegals have more voting rights than our proud men and women in uniform. DOJ, and by extension Zero, could care less. Another day, another disgrace. And just think, we’ve only got a little short of four more years of this hope and change thing.

It has always been this way. The left hates the Military and will do anything to keep them from voting.

There can be little question that the DimocRATs care so little about this country that they have no problem undermining confidence in the balloting process. What with Acorn and the rest and now this disenfranchisement of our military, they are bringing us to the brink of armed conflict.

What they don't get is that balloting stands in place of bloodshed. People who think their votes really count are willing to enter into an agreement in which votes decide issues. People who think that voting is a fraud will find other ways to power, and those ways are ugly.

In addition to undermining confidence in balloting, the Dims are also systematically attacking the morale of the military. The Dear Leader proposes to make our wounded pay for their own medical treatment. Noted congressmen attack the character of the personnel at the sharp end of the spear. Lying "journalists" prompt cries for prosecution of possible errors committed by people under a level of stress that the general populace cannot even imagine and will not take the trouble to understand.

And now election officials in a notoriously DimocRAT state, a state which gave us her royal thighness as its junior senator before the Dear Leader appointed her appeaser in chief, these officials, no doubt sworn to uphold the Constitution, are, let us hope through negligence, depriving the civil rights of those who defend our rights.

And now the Dear Leader's DOJ, able to do simple arithmetic when it comes to jiggering vote counts, makes a great show of trying to extend the eligibility period of absentee ballots ... but just not quite enough to see to it that military votes will be counted.

Honestly! it is as thought they wanted a coup or a bloody revolution. They take away rights to rear our children as we see fit, to medical confidentiality and privacy, to have some meaningful input into ordering our own affairs, to keep and bear arms. Now they erode our right to vote. Have they read no history at all?

Someday they're trapped in the Capitol building, surrounded by a sea of enraged peasants with pitchforks, they may wish they'd done otherwise.

Someday they're trapped in the Capitol building, surrounded by a sea of enraged peasants with pitchforks, they may wish they'd done otherwise.

And when the police and military refuse to disperse the crowd and join them, that's when the blue helmets will be called in.

Then we'll see who blinks first.

The “Blue Helmets” couldn’t pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel.

Not only that, but obtain and NAME NAMES, of the individuals trying to have the military votes invalidated, be they politicos, lawyers hired to do so, Obama Blueshirts, or whatever. Protest in front of their homes or businesses; harass them (nonviolently but constantly) everywhere.

In other words, turn leftist tactics back on them.

Yet these POLITICAL PARASITES will “proudly” stand at the front of the line of mourners when one of these BRAVE WARRIORS are brought home to their final rest.
They will put on faces of sadness and regret worthy of an acting award, and then return to their career of spitting on the military that keeps their worthless hides safe from what they truly deserve.
This is a repeat of the crap pulled in FLORIDA back when Bush beat Gore.
Meanwhile, the right to vote for Felons, Welfare Queens, and yes, even illegal alien must be fought for and protected.
Good luck USA

Our Military always votes for the more conservative candidate, therefore it is the military voters who will probably end up being disenfranchised and having their votes discounted, thanks to the liberal Democrat New York Board of Elections and the liberal Democrat Department of Justice.

He needs to be on TV 24/7 blasting this out. BTW, where are the lawyers filing suit? Let’s get some military guys to file suit - equal protection.
