EDITORIAL: Barack takes a bow. The president shows fealty to a Muslim king
The Washington Times ^ | April 7, 2009 | Editorial

Posted on 04/07/2009 4:19:16 AM PDT by Scanian

In a shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate, President Obama bowed to Saudi King Abdullah at the Group of 20 summit in London last week.

Mr. Obama later said in Strasbourg, France, "We have to change our behavior in showing the Muslim world greater respect." Symbolism is important in world affairs. By bending over to show greater respect to Islam, the U.S. president belittled the power and independence of the United States.

The bow was an extraordinary protocol violation. Such an act is a traditional obeisance befitting a king's subjects, not his peer. There is no precedent for U.S. presidents bowing to Saudi or any other royals. Former President Franklin D. Roosevelt shook hands with Saudi King Abdulaziz in February 1945. Granted, Mr. Roosevelt was wheelchair-bound, but former President Dwight D. Eisenhower shook hands when he first met King Saud in January 1957. Mr. Obama's bow to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques does not help his image with those who believe he is secretly a Muslim, and why he chose to bow only to the Saudi King and not to any other royals remains unexplained.

No Americans of any station are required to bow to royalty. It is one of the pillars of American exceptionalism that our country rejected traditional caste divisions.

Are we sure it’s a bow? In the still photograph, it looks more like a curtsey!

Or a Lewinsky

Barack Obama — Magna Cum Saudi?

URGENT BULLETIN: Did Saudi adviser pay Barack Obama's law school bills?

An excerpt:

"I think it is axiomatic that legal/financial advisers to Saudi Arabian princes do not routinely finance law school educations for nonbelievers. Therefore, we finally have a smoking gun, a concrete link, a very serious and substantial piece of strong circumstantial evidence, that Obama was holding himself out to be a Muslim as late as his mid-twenties."

Isn’t this the first newspaper in this country to cover the story? Gee, I wonder why no one reads them.

In bowing to Abdullah, he was showing his ass to America. “Kiss this, suckas!”

Probably the same kind of liberal scum who bashed Bush for being too tight with the Saudis. Libs are absolute garbage.

If he were a Christian, he would be attending Sunday services with his children. As far as I know, he’s not been to church since he was elected.

Yeah, very interesting, first his wife touches and hugs the Queen of England (what kind of protocol IQ is that???) and then he does an elaborately deep bow to the Saudi king?

Weird, weird, weird.

The longer I see him, the more it seems the most conspiratorialist-types were right.

Good supporting information.

This subserviant submission cannot be mistaken for crafted diplomacy. It was hurried and spontaneous — clearly the sign of deep feeling jumping forth to surmount considered conduct.

I could not believe it. Geoge W. Bush took a firm hand and arm on an uneven walk and pictures were everywhere. This is on clear video and the leftist media is aware of how the nation will react and so they have a total blackout.

How about it? How many places can we post it and discuss it outside this forum? Let’s each make it a goal to ask ten people each day what they thought of it.

Mission Accomplished, Barak.

"Reverend Jeremiah Wright, ladies and gentlemen, used to be a Muslim..."

You gotta link for that? Interesting, if so. More interesting if the mooselimbs go after him for converting to Christianity.

I don’t recall hearing Wright had been a Muslim. I recall hearing Islam was his field of study in his School of Religion courses in his college years.

2010? Obama needs to be impeached for bowing to the Saudi king. It was a show of subjugation. With his bow Obama was saying, “I am your subject.” Therefore, Obama is not eligible to be President of the United States.

“2010? Obama needs to be impeached for bowing to the Saudi king.”

That isn’ going to happen.
I’m trying to be realistic. We need a majority in the House in 2010. (and they need to be real Conservatives, not Rinos.)

Should we get a pool going on how long before he recites the shahada publicly? I say before Labor Day.

I’m trying to be realistic. Expecting just a special kind of Republicans to be in the majority is not realistic. That attitude is what got us where we are now.

Very possibly. He obviously feels quite secure and is moving ahead rapidly with everything, so he might well do it while he still feels that he's riding high.
