Will Obama cite FOCA and arrest Catholic bishops who will not do abortions?
The Collins Report ^ | April 7, 2009 | Kevin “Coach” Collins

Posted on 04/07/2009 6:05:30 AM PDT by jmaroneps37

The showdown over the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is coming.

The Senate has rejected a conscience clause. Now Catholic hospitals can be forced to commit abortions.

Democrats are caught between their pro-death supporters’ demands and attacking the Catholic Church. They will opt for the latter.

FOCA will force Catholic bishops to choose between federal money and mortal sin, and saying “No!” to murders of convenience by closing their hospitals. They will opt for the latter.

Aided by America’s Catholics, pro abortionists elected the most pro death president in history. Encouraged by this support Democrats are willing to confront Catholic bishops, but it will be a big mistake.

If Congress removes the conscious clause from government contacts with America’s Catholic hospitals and force them to commit abortions it’s in for a big surprise. The bishops won’t cave to FOCA. They’ll fight back.

Arlington’s Bishop Paul Loverde has sent a clear response to the death lobby in Congress. He dared Congress to send jackbooted DoJ thugs after him “I’m not going to close the hospital, you’re going to arrest me, go right ahead. You’ll have to drag me out, go right ahead. I’m not closing this hospital, we will not perform abortions, and you can go take a flying leap.”

The Vatican sees passage of FOCA as “the equivalent of a war” between Obama and the Catholic Church.

St. Louis Auxiliary Bishop Robert Hermann said “any one of us would consider it a privilege to die tomorrow — to die tomorrow — to bring about the end of abortion.”

FOCA plus Obama’s speaking at Notre Dame will cause adherent Catholic anger never seen before. There will be many red and surprised faces across the land. This will be a disaster for the Democrats. Catholic bishops are leading; genuine Catholics will follow..

Problem is the Feds may use the indirect approach, like they did with colleges and Title IX. Even if a school refused Federal money, the Feds claimed enforcement through student loan guarantees. With hospitals, think Medicare money and Federal contributions to states’ medicaid funds.

This is profoundly disturbing. One can see that, if the FED has control of the banks, it can easily manipulate who gets money and who does not.....making sure that those who support the DEMS make out very well....thus ensuring their control of this nation.

Call for REFORM in 2010 - 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if it doesn’t explode right there and then

Beware premature ejaculation.

Obama, like all the others before him, could GAIN strength from malformed rebellion.

It usually ends like the Bay of Pigs, not like Yorktown.

My belief is that we need to build the legal, constitutional, and moral case for restoration, and that when we are successful, no force that the communists can muster will be able to resist.

If we allow, through emotional gestures, the current ruling clique to wrap itself in the flag, then we are finished.

I don’t see them arresting bishops, or even doctors who refuse to perform abortions, but I do see them using civil suits to take hospital and clinic property to turn over to abortionists.

I agree. I don't think they'd risk the bad PR by hauling bishops off to jail or anything like that.

Now that Obama can fire CEO's of private companies using federal money as an excuse to do so, I'd guess he'd do something similar to gain control of Catholic hospitals. I think the only thing the hospitals can do is to refuse federal money right away before it's too late.

I see a time when news of Catholic hospital audits start hitting the MSM. Catholic hospital scandal starts getting increased coverage. The people look to Obama for a solution. After all, their tax dollars are going into these hospitals. A network of "Community-oriented" hospitals is announced to utilize these failing hospitals and get them back into service. They will bring back much-needed jobs and stimulus to the local economy. People can work to fulfill their national volunteer service quota by helping out the poor in the hospitals that once were Catholic. etc.

Yes, I’ve been telling the bubbas that I talk to that taking up arms as individuals or small groups would be exactly the wrong thing to do, for the reasons you state.

However, the scenario that “works” is when your state legislatures defy the fedgov with acts that have teeth, like withholding federal taxes in escrow and being doled out as long as the fedgov behaves within the Constitution.

If the fedgov backs off, fine. If they act to oppress or arrest, then the state governor calls up the guard, and the “militia” to protect people from illegal federal oppression.

“The showdown over the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is coming.”

And if Obama does what he said he would do....it will be the death knell of his presidency. The majority in this nation WILL turn against him.

Yes...and Pastors, Bishops, etc. will be “FIRED” (yes, FIRED, that’s what they do with CEOs that take gov’t money) the tax exemption will have to be forfeited.

there are plenty of non-catholic hospitals that will perform abortions. There is no need of “back alley murders”
Why would anyone who wants an abortion go to a Catholic Hospital anyway. Just to cause trouble?

Rescinding President Bush’s conscience clause will have no immediate effect on anything. It will only allow federally-funded entities in the future to disregard the consciences of their health care workers.

The rescission of President Bush’s order is not at all the same as FOCA. FOCA would repeal President Bush’s order anyway.

Passing FOCA will not lead to the arrest of bishops, or of anyone.

Passing FOCA could lead to the loss of funding for Catholic-affiliated hospitals, and lead to the loss of employment of Catholic health care workers.

The federal government will not “force” anyone to participate in the crime of abortion. It will merely withhold checks from those entities that refuse to buckle under.

The usurping illegal fascist regime of the anti-Christ Obama will be unconcerned with the loss of 25% - 30% of American health care facilities, as the reduction of supply will go hand-in-hand with the fascist regime’s goal of moving toward government-supplied, government-controlled, government-rationed health care.

This is such crap. Muslims in this country have been given special concessions, both by the courts, and by employers, when it comes to practicing their religious beliefs at the workplace. Why should one religious group be given special religious treatment on the job and not another?

Yes. Precisely to cause trouble. For the abortionists, baby-killing isn't a "tragic choice". It's a "holy cause", a "sacred right", perhaps even a "sacred rite". To oppose baby-killing is, from their POV, the worst sort of blasphemy.

You can get an abortion anywhere in this country. Why would anyone purposely select a catholic hospital to have one? It could only mean to make trouble.

You can step through them and easily name how the left is encroaching on, if not entirely destroyed, each one of them.

Sadly, I think you're correct.

To counter this scenario, I believe the Catholic church would close every single hospital after the first one is taken over.

Many people are going to die under democrat rule.

..and surely the “pro-death culture” would NEVER do anything to cause trouble.

So, what you’d like to see is Catholic Hospitals concede to hussain’s demands...agree to do abortions...because nobody would ever come to Catholic Hospitals anyway???? WAKE UP!!
