A federal judge says in 25 years on the bench he's never seen anything as bad as the government's mishandling of the Ted Stevens corruption trial. [snip]
Will a new election be held giving Stevens a fair chance at his former seat?
Will Barry ever be required to produce a valid birth certificate?
Will monkey ever fly out of ...
If I was a conspiracy theorist...
Bump
The prosecution was SUCCESSFUL...this was about getting another DEM seat, and they succeeded. It was NEVER about actual guilt by a republican for ANYTHING.
How can we believe that such a high profile case could be so flagrantly mishandled because of negligence rather than malice?
In short, what the hell was going on here?
The demo’s got what THEY wanted: one more liberal repubbie attacked just before the election.
Forget fairness or justice - for white republicans.
One thing for sure, Alaskan's don't like the repubs no more than the dems and if mark rides the center, he'll get elected forever. Nx time don't eat your own, support them.
I hope your comment wasn’t directed at me...I wasn’t bad mouthing Stevens.
If his behavior was above reproach, he would not have been targeted as a vulnerable entity.
Sometimes, you help bring on a bad situation by your own behavior.
This is not a vindication of Stevens’ conduct, but an indictment of an equally corrupt proscutor, IMHO.
What I don’t understand is why Holder dropped the case. Sure, he wanted to make it look as though the Justice Dept was “fair” and “non-biased.” But even so, as Stevens has been defeated, none of the trial news would have gotten to the public anyway!
If this isn’t an invitation for live boys and dead girls to start showing up in the beds of Dem/Lib prosecutors and legislators, I don’t know what is.
This stops further inquiries at a time when Holder might control the retaliatory investigations into the conduct.
It all dies a peaceful death, having done what it waws meant to do.
The judge needs to sanction each of the government attorneys and their superiors and to submit the sanctions to their bar associations with a cover letter asking that they be disbarred.
They all are corrupt, you just have to chose which will be closer to a conservative that might be closer to our values. Don't be confused to think all of Washington is not on the take, they all are one way or another. It is the nature of the beast.
You just have got to love this.
Anyone want to know why the Democrats went nuts when Bush fired 8 attorneys? They did it because it would pressure Bush not to fire any more of them.
And Voila`, you have attorneys who should have been fired for misconduct stealing the election for the RATS. And it was on Bush’s watch.
F’ing Brilliant!!!
All it takes for a conspiracy is for two people to decide to do something. I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that the prosecutor is a Rat.
I thought he would still win the election. When absentee votes were counted, the election went to Begich by 4000 votes, Uncle Teddy had been up 8,000 votes to near the end. The case gave the election to mark begich; real heartbreaker to Alaskans who knew the truth.
Now Mark Begich is painting the picture that he is a conservative democrat, no gun control magic man, slow down the spending ect, yet vote with dems most of the time. Begich will get elected forever that way. So in the end, we have lost a repub vote in Washington and all I remember is all the freepers going after an old man who has hung with the repubs since statehood. Alot of fools on FR.
Shirley you aren't implying that the Democrats had a plan to 'get to 60' in the Senate and that anything they did to achieve their goal was acceptable? If you think this was bad, wait until 2010, when the Dems, armed with tons of taxpayer funded ACORNs, and a 'fair' census do to keep their majority in the House and Senate.
The unexpected emergence of a Judge Sirica is one of the things that could take Soetero down fast.
Thanks for the reply and I agree 100 percent.
Stevens was HUGE spending @$$. And while his trial was stacked, his explanations rang pretty hollow with me. I actually defended him last fall, since I believe he was as honest as the average Senator - but his ethical standards were in the toilet. He was an embarrassment to the GOP.
That said, I’d prefer him to his opponent in the Senate. But lets not make it sound like Stevens was or is a great guy. He is a big government, dishonest jerk.
I'm right here. Stevens is a dirty politician. Just because there was prosecutorial misconduct doesn't change that. From the article:
The government misconduct and the unraveling of the case overshadowed the facts of a trial in which Stevens regardless of Allen's discredited testimony was shown to have accepted a massage chair, a stained-glass window and an expensive sculpture but never disclosed them on Senate documents. We live in a bizarro world where government corruption can be excused if your opponent is also corrupt. I used to think this attitude didn't infect Republicans. I am disappointed.None of that mattered Tuesday as Stevens gave what amounted to the election victory speech he never got.
And if the average Senator is as corrupt as Stevens, then half the Senate needs to go. The country would be better off.
STEVENS IS DIRTY!
The judge ought to hang a few prosecutors over that one...
The investigation began under Gonzales. The indictment and trial took place on Mukasey's watch.
Apparently the judge has started the process of investigating the procesutors with a view towards filing criminal charges against them.
Will a new election be held giving Stevens a fair chance at his former seat?
No do-overs.
Will Barry ever be required to produce a valid birth certificate?
Who knows?

I saw that this morning. As the prosecutors are now muttering, quoting Oliver Hardy, "What a revolting development this is."
I wonder if some eager young turk prosecutor will consider cutting a plea in order to save him/herself from the Federal slam. If so, I wonder how far up the food chain things will go before somebody falls on their sword.
Being a practical engineering sort of person, however, given the Rat administration, I am not optimistic.

I'll give you odds the real on, if it even exists, won't show up anytime in either of our lifetimes.
Don’t worry, when the filthy dems get done with ya, you’ll be wonderin what it was you said.
