US President Barack Obama will celebrate Passover Thursday night with staff and friends in what is believed to be the first White House Seder attended by an American president.
The event was slipped onto the president's public schedule Tuesday night with little fanfare, following a letter signed by Obama earlier in the day wishing Americans who mark the day a "peaceful and relaxing holiday."

I’m sure he will have staff that makes sure everything is kosher to the max. As well as Easter decorations around the table LOL. (Fair’s fair)

M.T. may or may not coincide with Passover in a given year.

Has he even been to church since becoming president? I don’t recall hearing about it.

The empty chair will be for the first Cabinet member who has paid all his taxes.

Bill Sammon had an article in the Washington Times today about that. Answer is no.

A dinner’s a WHOLE lot different than a religious service.
To: what's up
Here’s the memory fog. It might have been (or future dinners might have been) connected with the Islamic festival Eid-al-Fitr (sounds a bit like Adolph Hitler) marking the end of the religious fasting month of Ramadan. Or an after-sunset Ramadan meal. There would be Islamic blessings asked and other stuff.

I had to read the headline twice. I could have sworn it said ‘saber.’
The news about the bow must have caused quite a row, seeing as how the WH can’t put this one over on the public.
Nachum, you are going to need an entire server farm for your list in the not too distant future.

“A dinners a WHOLE lot different than a religious service.”
No where near as involved as a Seder dinner, but there is a bit of ritual.
Bush to host Muslim dinner
By KATHY A. GAMBRELL, White House reporter Published: Nov. 19, 2001
“The Iftar dinner is traditionally held at the end of each day’s sunrise-to-sunset fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. White House aides said it is the first time an Iftar meal has been held at the White House. President Clinton held three eid al fitr dinners, to celebrate the traditional three-day holiday that marks the end of Ramadan.
Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said fast-breaking ceremony usually begins with dates and water, and is followed by prayer, then a full meal.”

".. a letter signed by Obama earlier in the day wishing Americans who mark the day a "peaceful and relaxing holiday."" I, a Christian, have had the high honor of being invited to participate in several Seders in Jewish homes.
I would not consider the Seder to be merely a "peaceful and relaxing" "holiday"; rather, I found it it to be reverent, moving, and highly significant.
After all, Passover is a direct and significant part of Christianity's cultural and spiritual heritage...
