“They want to stack the deck to make our democracy an irrelevency.”

That’s exactly their intent, but first they are making their opposition irrelevant.

How? The Socialist element incrementally took over the Democrat Party, and are currently involved in the same tactics within the Republican Party as I see it. Re: RINO’s.

The Socialist/Democrats are elated with the concept of a Conservative movement towards a Third Party. It would make Conservatism irrelevant for literally ever more.

When someone has to answer every single line in my post I know I’ve hit a nerve with some of those ‘flying dishes’.

Sarah Palin is no concern of mine now. She is the governor of Alaska. She may or may not be a candidate for president in 3 years. She definitely won’t be a presidential candidate if the Republican Country Club set have their say. You think that she’ll be supported by the RINO leadership? She won’t. If she wants to be president she may have to leave the party to do it. We’ll see.

I just think it’s time for the elite RINO’s to sleep in the bed they made for themselves ... alone ... without their ‘neglected housewives’. They kicked their base to the curb. Now their base is letting them know they might not be coming back. It’s not a temper tantrum. It’s a response to their actions.

Yes, of course. You see this in how conservatives are treated with special contempt while the RINOs always got the kid-glove treatment. The liberal MSM "showed their hand" back in February 2008, when John McCain, newly GOP nominated candidate, suddenly was subject to a NYTimes hit piece, that consisted of a story that was *10 YEARS OLD* and falsely insinuated over-close personal relations with a lobbyist. A story that, had they run it 1 month earlier would have meant nominee Romney or Huckabee.

McCain went from their favorite Republican to "ENEMY #1" overnight and the covrage showed.

Today, they do more of the same. They are attacking the up-and-coming conservatives... Did you notice how they viciously attacked Jindhal, have you noticed the curious attacks on Gov Sanford. And of course, target #1 is Palin. With the GOP flat on its back in Congress, Obama is using Rush as the Official Enemy #1.

This is the kind of stuff out of 1984 or Pravda.

The Socialist/Democrats are elated with the concept of a Conservative movement towards a Third Party. It would make Conservatism irrelevant for literally ever more.

Absolutely. Divide and Conquer is Strategy 101. If we UNITE THE RIGHT, we win. If not, we lose. ... and this time, ITS FOR KEEPS. (I am convinced that Obama/Pelosi in there for 4+ years = in there for a generation, as they corrupt the institutions to lock them into power.)

When someone has to answer every single line in my post I know I’ve hit a nerve with some of those ‘flying dishes’.

I explained prior in this thread why I am taking it personally. Obama's plan will make America a different place for MY children - poorer and less free. His assault on our freedoms and our way of life is deeper and broader than any assault prior in our history. That means he has arrogated the power to destroy our country in a way that years of my own personal effort cannot overcome. He is truly the most dangerous and worst President in our lifetimes.

So I am taking PERSONALLY any effort that helps keep him in power.

Dividing the right KEEPS OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS IN POWER.

Third party pipedreams KEEPS OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS IN POWER.

As such, this dangerous lunacy will personally harm me and my family. So I take it personally.

if you think you've 'accomplished' something by my very response, it only proves my point that this is superficial and non-serious venting, rather than useful strategic thinking that addresses the serious question of how to "Unite the Right" and defeat Obama.

PS. Don’t take my sharp responses as an indication that I don’t think the Republican party needs both reform and a wake-up call to listen to the roots. I agree it does.

It’s just - to carry the broken dishes analogy further - I prescribe counseling and not a divorce.

... the latter will HURT THE KIDS.

You can’t unite what doesn’t want to be united.

Specter does not want to unite with the right.
McCain doesn’t want to unite with the right.
Powell doesn’t want to unite with the right.
Steele doesn’t want to unite with the right.

I get where you are coming from. Believe me. But it may make more sense to break away from the people that REFUSE to let us break through and take this country back. They don’t seem to be very interested in our ideas, concerns, or fears. They mock the patriotism and faith of the ‘values’ voter. What should we do? Keep giving them our money and votes but then stand in a corner silenced?

I haven’t pulled my registration ... yet. And Toomey will have my vote. But I will also entertain following a 3rd party ... especially if the Republican leadership doesn’t start articulating the clear language of our founding fathers.

Third Parties usually cost the GOP the election.

No. Put the blame where it belongs.

Republicans cost the GOP the election, every_single_time.

The “Marxist strategy” is one of letting the country go to the dogs by letting the Democrats win all the elections, run up supermajorities, and run things without any constraints at all; it is dumb as rocks. you get stuff like gay marriage (as in VT), DC voting scheme (unconstituional), fairness doctrine, unions ending secret ballots, massive leftwing corruption and indoctrination funding etc.

I'd say that is an accurate assessment and depicts the state of affairs we see today. If this is the result of Marxian dialetic materialism, then we must have been doing a fine job as "enablers" up to this point. As we have held our noses, voted for the lesser of two evils, and unthinkingly contributed to this process, we find ourselves in this very spot you describe today. It's past time to try something new. If the RNC offers me a George Washington style Conservative candidate, I will support the RNC in kind. If not ... not ... and that choice was theirs to make first, not mine.

Yes, we know where we stand today - As of January 20th, 2009, the nation is in the grip of the most LEFTWING SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT GOVERNMENT IN OUR HISTORY.

This fact is to me far more fundamental than the hapless state of the GOP, although one supposes that the linkage between the two has not sunk in and perhaps should penetrate the elite GOP mentality - killing the myth forever that RINO moderate=more electable. (As in, what the heck is the daughter of the losing candidate in 2008 doing lecturing us to go centrist when her Dad lost by the widest margin of Republican loss (8%) since Goldwater’s blowout in 1964?!?!)

.. 55 million voted for the ‘lesser of evils’,
... but 64 million voted for the most left-wing nominee who ever ran for President in our entire history.

So obviously our problems are not do to too many voting for RINOs, our problem is too many voting for MARXISTS.

“It’s past time to try something new.”

And my point is that dispeptic laments against the errors of GWB, RINOs etc. when they held the reins prior to January 2007 are a bit of fighting the last war, even if the concerns are valid. It’s a bit like the Polish cavalry of 1939 arguing over size of lances. we are being overrun by socialists - how do we fight the battle of TODAY.

I would assert that the “try something new” thing is to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get the leftwing out of power. Item #1 on that is to UNITE THE RIGHT.

We face a HUGE challenge that can literally destroy the America we know and love. We cannot afford to fool around, waste resources or engage in wishful thinking. Yes, we need to get the RINOs who have ruined the GOP brand out of there, but we will need more. We need to have bold, new, principled, conservative, forward-looking leadership. As that leadership arises and asserts conservative principles contrawise the Obama/Pelosi Democrats - and there are indications of it from various Congressional Republicans - we can move forward.
