Report: Ethics to probe Rep. Jesse Jackson By Ian Swanson Posted: 04/08/09 09:34 AM [ET] The new congressional ethics office has launched a preliminary inquiry into Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), according to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times.
The Sun-Times reports the inquiry is related to the corruption investigation of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D), who was impeached after allegations he sought to sell President Obama’s vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder.
Jackson was interested in the Senate appointment, but has not been accused of any wrongdoing. Roland Burris (D) eventually won the appointment and was seated in the Senate despite initial efforts by Democratic leaders to block him. Burris is now the subject of a probe by the Senate Ethics panel.

The verdict is already in.
The Congressional “ethics” committee is, itself, a joke. They are powerless to do anything other than send a wrong-doer to Disney World for a day to ride in their afternoon parade.
If the Congressional “ethics” committee were true to their name, most of the Congress would be under investigation, including most or all of the “ethics” committee.
In Congress, the “ethics” committee’s only power is to censure those Congresscritters who are dumb enough to get caught doing whatever everyone else in Congress is doing!!
