Tony Blair has challenged the entrenched attitudes of the Pope on homosexuality, and argued that it is time for him to rethink his views.
Speaking to the gay magazine Attitude, the former Prime Minister, himself now a Roman Catholic, said that he wanted to urge religious figures everywhere to reinterpret their religious texts to see them as metaphorical, not literal, and suggested that in time this would make all religious groups accept gay people as equals

In name only, apparently.
Tony’s really got a thing for the homosexuals.

The former prime minister has stepped up his campaign for the job, which he wants to use to build a bridge between Europe and the new Obama administration. Who said they are not, "equal?" It's just that the practice of homosexuality is wrong.
Tony has finally come out of the closet how nice
Right Tony ....me thinks in this issue it will be you who is going down and bending over.
hmmmmm...
Arrogant prick. You’re not even a real Catholic!
Tony, don’t take it up with the Pope, take it up with God. He said it, plain as day.
"Oi Pope! Wot's a yob to do when 'e's feelin' randy in choich on a 'ot summas day?!?"
The pope should’ve asked him why he converted if he doesn’t believe church doctrine?

‘Tonys really got a thing for the homosexuals.’
And that is surprising how? I know he’s British but the gaydar is going off.
End of Days here we come.
I’m just sure the Pope is going to rewrite the Bible based on popular sexual mores.
I will tolerate a homosexual individual.
However, I refuse to accept the ACT of “gay sex” as a natural behavior.
If Tony Blair wanted to be in a church where homosexual conduct is approved of, gays can get married, women can be ordained, and so forth, he should have remained an Episcopalian. They even have the same nifty vestments, smells and bells and all the rest of the trappings. What’s the point of crossing the Tiber anyway?
One of Tony Blair’s kids must be gay inorder for him, a newly made Catholic to say that to the Pope.
How can the Pope be wrong on homosexuality when such an edict comes directly from the Holy Bible! Tony Blair is a !@#$%^&*! moron!
According to Merriam-Webster: metaphorical is -
1: a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them.
I would like to know exactly what other aberrant behavior he is talking about.
Just what we need: Another “progressive” Catholic.

Q&A: Tony Blair on How to Restart the Mideast Peace Process
In between bites of an orange on a balcony in the fabled American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem, Tony Blair, exBritish Prime Minister and current mediator for the Quartet - the United States, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations - in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, spoke candidly with TIME’s Jerusalem bureau chief Tim McGirk about the obstacles to peace. Earlier, Blair had met with Benjamin Netanyahu, the hawkish new Israeli premier, who says he will keep talking peace but left open the question of whether Israel would accept a Palestinian state. “One thing I learned,” says Blair, “is that you simply just don’t give up

The pope, like myself, is decorated dust.
However, the Word of God says that homosexuality is an abomination and shouldn’t be “celebrated” as an equally moral choice as marriage between a man and woman.
Like I’ve said elsewhere,
liberal “Christians” must discount the Word of God
and not treat it as authoritative,
because there is no way to justify liberal ideology
against the Word.
Tony Blair ought to figure out if he is "comfortable" in being a Catholic and being associated with its teachings. He can't have it both ways, if you know what I mean...
oh geez - well if Tony Blair says that’s how things oughta be, then there ya go.
What could the pope possibly be thinking?
On a side note, just how DO you tell if an Englishman is gay?
hmmmmm
“How can the Pope be wrong on homosexuality when such an edict comes directly from the Holy Bible! Tony Blair is a !@#$%^&*! moron!”
Bingo! It looks like we have a winner here! Like I said one of his sons must be gay.
I was thinking Blair was speaking from personal experience.
Further proof that Liberals want to control what religions can and cannot believe. There is no such thing as freedom of religion in a Leftist Utopia.
On a side note, just how DO you tell if an Englishman is gay?
There’s a punchline to an old joke that might not make it past the moderator.
I thought they were ALL queer.
There’s always FReepmail... :)
That’s the joke...
What nerve. Does the Vatican come to Great Britain and tell them they ought to “rethink” socialism?
No, but someone should!
And while they are at it, I hope they get a ticket to Washington, D.C. and tell the idiot we have running this place the same D@%N thing!
I don’t know what’s wrong with him. I mean, he couldn’t be Prime Minister unless he was of the Church of England, and then, as soon as he’s out of office, he becomes a Catholic. Obviously he switches religions according to what office he takes at the time... :-)
I've heard that they either wear socks or do not wear socks.
Yep, another CINO. I have always long believed however that these converts NEVER really understood the Catholic faith or it’s teachings.
Most that I have come across only became Catholics because either they wanted to get married in the Catholic Church, have their children baptised/communion/confirmation, or for some other form of “appeasement” towards someone else. Never would they have become a Catholic on their own though.
Best story I heard yet was a woman I used to know wanted to get married, her fiance was quite adament about her converting. The priest however upon hearing her radical views on abortion and homosexuality was not about to go along with it and told her that he felt she was not converting for herself, but just to get married in the Catholic Church. This so-and-so was hell bent on suing the priest and the church for not going along with her little scheme. That speaks volumes to me about her true intentions. I wish her the best in life and hope she wakes up soon and realizes her mistakes.
Well done to the priest to stop that little scheme firmly in it’s tracks and more priests should start doing the same. Unfortunately, this woman’s fiance had his parents get her converted over at their church where they were very affuential. This woman still holds her views on abortion being a woman’s “right” and her views on homosexuality and as far as I know she’s hasn’t set a foot in church since her wedding, but of course she did start up again after the birth of her son 6 years ago so that he could be baptised. But now she does say she plans to start attending again “in the near future”. I would imagine she does, her son will be recieving his first holy communion witin the next year, so she does have to show up for that and the masses leading up to it. After that I bet it’s back to being a CINO for her!
