Proposal To Let Illegals Vote Sparks Outrage
A Framingham representative admits her idea to allow illegal immigrants to vote in town elections is controversial.
Rep. Pam Richardson pitched the idea to fellow democrats in a meeting. But when word hit the Internet the angry calls started coming.
Now Richardson is doing some damage control.
"Its probably not likely I will push for this," she said.
Richardson admits she is backing off.
She floated the idea in a meeting with democrats over their state party platform. She said let illegal immigrants vote locally and they will be better neighbors.
"You want people who live in your community to feel they are part of the community," she said.
Where she lives in Framingham many places don't even have English on the menu.
"People are here paying taxes, and they shouldn't be treated differently than other people," one person told WBZ.
But those aren't the calls Richardson is fielding after the video hit YouTube.
"It's a terrible idea," one man said. "I think our representatives are insane."
"If you are a citizen of this country you have a say in what goes on," a woman said. "If you don't become a citizen you shouldn't have that right."
The anger is overwhelming Richardson's office, and what she thought was a cutting edge idea is now apparently dead.
"It takes an unselfish act to stick you neck out and say something when you realize politically it's potentially going to be a negative," Richardson said.
Richardson tells WBZ she will wait a few weeks to gather more community input. The state democrats meet in June where she would pitch her idea if she chooses to do so.

I lived in Framingham in the mid ‘80s. It was a dump then and worse now (last time I was there was 2007.)

BS. When and where she said it, her proposal was not politically negative; she didn’t stand by her position once it did generate a negative reaction... dropped it like a hot potato.
It was actually rather cowardly. Courage would have been standing by her original proposition regardless of the political consequences. She was merely pandering to her Dem colleagues; then pandering to her constituents.
Since we’re going global now, why not open the primaries to the world?/

This sentence is a good illustration of something we once had in the United States but seems to be disappearing by the second. It’s called common sense.
Can I go get to vote in Mexican elections? After all, it’s only fair if their citizens get to vote in the United States then U.S. citizens should be get to vote in foreign elections.
We are going to be bombarded with 'new citizens' from south of the border, along with everybody in their familia. And we, the citizens will have to empty our pockets to make sure they get every bennie they are 'entitled' to.
I was thinking the same thought. What the heck, since Democrats are so enamored with the idea of foreign citizens in our country voting why not open it to everyone on the globe.
I bet Congressional Black Caucus members will get a giant surprise when they are all voted out and replaced by Asians.
Every illegal immigrant is a citizen of a foreign nation. Democrats are power hungry pigs willing to whore themselves to the lowest bidder for votes.

I think Montgomery County MD has allowed ALL to vote in local elections regardless of status for years. The ‘idea’ being that since they paid local taxes etc they should have a say in local politics....The same communities also banned nuclear weapons in the area.....
Notice where DC wants to recognize same sex marriages that are authorized by other states.
GUESS THE NEXT STEP IS TO ALLOW ME TO CARRY A WEAPON IN MASS/NH/DC ETC BECAUSE I AM LICENSED IN VA???? ... sarcasm ...
