It now appears a Navy Officer ignored Obama’s orders to negotiate and took matters into his own hands. Want to bet the Navy Officer gets demoted by Obama?

This is great. And not the first time that the skipper from a ship named “Alabama” was rescued from the water.

Consider how Obama is now treating this as an FBI case!

Right. So this means the remaining pirate will receive legal representation in an American court, right?

Obama can Respond to Public Pressure ?

That’s encouraging.....wonder if the Navy went against the Commander in chief on this ?

Nah, Obama probably gave some vague order that if it didn’t turn out like it did, he would have Fired teh CEO of the Navy.

Wasn’t aware there were more hostages from the Maersk. Are you saying the mothership has hostages from other events?

From where? Who are the 250?

Here you go:
Phillips is one of about 260 hostages being held by Somali pirates preying on the busy sea lanes of the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.

There are more Filipinos than any other nationality and the pirates are keeping about 17 captured vessels at or near lairs like Eyl, Hobyo and Haradheere on Somalia’s eastern coast - six of them taken in the last week alone.

“Once again, it has taken American involvement to get world powers really interested,” said a diplomat who tracks Somalia from Nairobi. “I hope they don’t forget the Filipinos and all the others, once this guy is released.”

Eric Holder is probably preparing to charge all involved in the rescue with treason or something.

That won’t happen because Obama and Holder will want to take credit for a successful operation regardless of who actually authorized it.
Charges would only happen if Captain Phillips had been killed.

Great News! But it's revealing to notice how each news organization reports the news.

The BBC: Captain Released

Fox News: Captain Rescued

ABC News: Captain Freed

CNN: Captain Released

NY Times: Captain Freed

MSNBC: Captain Rescued by US Navy (surprising)

Make you own judgments.

They probably sent in the junior seals fresh from Coronado just to get them a little practical experience.

They probably HALO’d right onto the enclosed life boat, turning on The 1812 Overture right when they got there.

From the WaPo:

Two other Somalis, one involved in the negotiations and another in contact with the pirates, also said the talks collapsed because of the U.S. insistence that the pirates be arrested and brought to justice.

Obama was working on getting his extradition treaties signed by Somalian pirates at the time...
