Illegal Alien Costs Rising Sharply

Illegal alien families are using welfare and social services more than ever in the recession. In Los Angeles County alone the cost is more than $1 billion per year. They are costing more than $40 billion per year than what they pay in taxes. Strictly speaking, they shouldn't be eligible for any such services. But for a variety of reasons they're receiving them, one reason being their "anchor babies."

I’ve wondered about that too and I agree with you. To me, it’s about the dangers of an “Imperial Judiciary” where a panel of unelected lawyers arbitrarily overturn the will of the people. It’s, in effect, rule by an oligarchy not the people. And it’s not just in California that referenda have been rejected by a few lawyers. The worst part of it is that these decisions are clearly determined by sheer political partisanship and have nothing to do with their constitutionality.

That's the root of my overwhelming frustration! If only these rulings would make it to a higher court....

I keep wondering what the state (and the rest of the nation) would be like if Prop 187 had been allowed to stand a decade ago. I don’t think we’d be facing nearly the number of problems from illegal immigration if the people had been allowed a voice.

I hope Marianne Pfaelzer, the judge who overturned the will of the people, spends eternity experiencing, from the point of view of the victim, every murder, rape, and drunk driving crash perpetrated by every illegal who was in California because she did not allow Prop 187 to stand.

And you think FL is in better shape?

FYI,thanks to your former governor's brother, the ENTIRE COUNTRY is quickly going to hell in a hand basket because of his refusal to enforce the immigration laws of this country, secure BOTH borders AND DEPORT ALL illegal aliens...and I won't even get into the 100K incarcerated foreigners that are costing Americans BILLIONS OF DOLLARS annually.

I noted today more billboard advertising in Spanish.
Business and govt work hand in hand in these things. Govt dishes out the money and it is spent at the businesses, who more and more cater to Spanish-speaking.

We gringas and gringos foot the bill. CA has raised sales tax one percent. It is now 9.25percento.

More surcharges and raised fees in the works. They are actually following a formalized plan, as outlined by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) to redistribute wealth from U.S to Mexico.

Strictly speaking, they shouldn't be eligible for any such services.

Not all that strictly. Prop 187 specifically outlawed all of this, but then of course some judge, using the divine right of kings or something, decided otherwise.

Gov. Grey Davis refused to have the State Attorney General defend the law when it went before the State Supreme Court.

That effort was KILLED by Democrats.

The American public still isn't angry enough.

But they're stupid enough to elect 0bama.

And they will continue to do so, with Zero continuously finding new handouts for them.

I’ve often said that it’s child abuse to bring minors across the border illegally, and certainly American-born children can be removed from the homes of chronic criminal(illegal alien) parents, whose assets should be seized, prior to deportation, to support these children.

“Why would making them legal increase costs?”

Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, unemployment benefits, food stamps, welfare, affirmative action, and housing assistance come to mind. All on the taxpayer’s dime.

Combine that with a newly formed rat voting bloc that’s millions strong that will demand an ever increasing number of “entitlements” and you can begin to see the implications.

Florida Studies Reveal Huge Increase in Cost of Illegal Immigration and Widespread Voter Dissatisfaction ----Cost Study and Zogby Poll Offer Comprehensive Statewide Assessment

WASHINGTON, April 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Simultaneous studies, released this week by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), show soaring costs of illegal immigration in Florida and demonstrate strong voter objections to the burdens placed on them by illegal immigration. A new Zogby International poll of 801 likely voters across the state found that, by an overwhelming margin, Floridians believe that illegal immigration is harming their state. Their perceptions are rooted in reality. A separate FAIR study, the Costs of Illegal Immigration to Floridians found that providing education and health care to illegal aliens and their families, and incarcerating criminal illegal aliens, costs state taxpayers more than $3.8 billion annually, more than double the costs measured in 2005.

The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Floridians found that taxpayers spend:
* $3.4 billion a year to educate illegal immigrant children and the U.S. born children of illegal immigrants.
* $290 million a year on unreimbursed health care for illegal aliens.
* $90 million a year to incarcerate criminal illegal aliens.
* The total represents an annual cost to each of Florida’s native-born headed households of $678.

The cost study also determined that the illegal alien population in Florida is now 950,000 persons. This represents 7.3 percent of the national total illegal alien population, and it is the nation’s fourth largest concentration of illegal aliens after California, Texas and New York. It is also about 5.2 percent of Florida’s overall population. The Zogby poll found that:

* 71.3% of Florida voters say illegal immigration has a negative impact on the state. Only 14.4% believe it has a positive impact on Florida.
* 83.5% of Florida voters believe illegal aliens have a negative impact on the state budget, versus only 7.9% who believe their impact is positive.
* 57.5% believe illegal immigration should be reduced through better enforcement of immigration laws. Only 36% of Florida voters favor amnesty or legalization for current illegal aliens.
* 68.6% of Florida voters want worksite immigration enforcement to continue.

Only 21.1% support the Obama administration’s decision to curtail worksite enforcement. “Voters in Florida, like voters everywhere, want their elected officials in Washington and Tallahassee to protect their interests, their jobs, and their tax dollars from the impact of mass illegal immigration,” said Stein. “At a time when the Obama administration is intent on systematically dismantling immigration enforcement, and congressional leaders are considering a new round of amnesty legislation, voters in this key state are saying unequivocally that it is time political leaders stopped pandering to the illegal immigration lobby, and started enforcing laws that serve the interests of ordinary Americans.”

The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Floridians and a summary of the Zogby International Polling results are available at www.fairus.org.

But they already get those benefits while they are illegal. Making them legal wouldn’t do anything except add them to the voter rolls eventually (which is a whole other issue).
