The Spirit of United 93 Lives on in a Ship's Crew
American Thinker ^ | 04/12/2009 | Lee Cary

As details of the Maersk Alabama episode emerge, one clear lesson surfaces: The Spirit of United Flight 93 lives on.

The ending of the hostage story at sea will soon be followed by the requisite second guessing and questions. Not to mention the inevitable criticism of the killing (someone will call it execution without due process) of three pirates. Then, if the fourth pirate is brought to the U.S. for trial, that promises to become a legal mini-series. But all of that will pale in importance in the face of what happened this Easter Sunday at sea.

From Reuter’s story

“Somali pirates were quick to vow revenge over the shooting of their comrades, as well as a French military assault to rescue a yacht on Friday.

“The French and the Americans will regret starting this killing. We do not kill, but take only ransom. We shall do something to anyone we see as French or American from now,” Hussein, a pirate, told Reuters by satellite phone.”

They used the pirates middle name!!!

I bet Obuma is running into walls at the Whitey House over this. How will he reconcile the good will of the Somalians and Muslims in general and how will he keep his relatives safe in Africa?

I’m sorry, but after 9/11/01, any person taken by terrorists must already be considered as dead; and the appropriate action (death) taken against their captors.

Having said that, I am ecstatic that Capt. Phillips was rescued unharmed.

I’m stumped as well by this alleged order by the alleged prez to hold fire unless the Captain was in “imminent danger”. In my uninformed civilian opinion, being held hostage by barbarians is imminently dangerous.

In so doing, the Maersk Alabama’s crew reminded us of the valor of those who fought to take back United Flight 93, somewhere in the skies over Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001 -- and thus saved thousands of American lives. Proving, once again, that such citizens, acting so courageously in impossible conditions, remain essential components of the American spirit.

Amen and Amen! God bless them the brave Captain and the wonderful Navy Seals that put an end to the whole thing. True Americans all!

We need more of them instead of celebs like Ron Howard (who wants to see a less militaristic America) and Tina Brown (who claims to also be a pirate with her Daily Beast blog). If you check Breitbart.com, you can find their disgusting comments. A couple of real maroons (to quote Bugs Bunny, who was more of a real American than the present-day Opie).
