Rosa Brooks to Pentagon
24Ahead ^ | April 9, 2009

Posted on 04/14/2009 8:43:33 PM PDT by La Lydia

Former Los Angeles Times columnist Rosa Brooks is going through the revolving door again, this time to be an advisor at the Defense Department, specifically to Michele Flournoy the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy. There's a lot about her not to like; here's just some of it:

She was affiliated with George Soros' Open Society Institute and the Council on Foreign Relations.

During the Clinton years, she advised Harold Koh in his previous position at the State Department.

In her farewell column, she advocates for a "government bailout of journalism." In addition to various subsidies, she wants to "[use] tax dollars and [grant] licenses in ways that encourage robust and independent reporting and commentary". Anyone who's older than five knows just how narrowly she'd define "robust". For instance, Lou Dobbs probably wouldn't make the cut, not to mention many others.

In June 2007, she offered "How immigrants improve the curve." Discussing all the things wrong with it would take too long, but the first thing wrong is her contention that Americans are fat and lazy and that the only solution is giving us (them from her perspective) the competition of bringing in immigrants, whether legal or not...

I totally disagree with most of what is at this link, but this was pretty eye-brow raising. She teaches at Georgetown Law. She is the daughter of the Socialist nutcake Barbara Ehrenreich. She has also been a consultant for Human Rights Watch, a board member of Amnesty International USA, and a member of the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law. She is active in political causes. She hates the United States and what it stands for. She wrote columns full of girlish enthusiasm about Obama last year, and in 2004 was a foreign policy advisor to the Kerry-Edwards campaign. AND SHE IS GOING TO BE MADE PRIVY TO ALL OF THIS COUNTRY'S DEFENSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY SECRETS, and is going to be advising on our defense policy. And remember, her mentor, Harold Koh, advocates a "transnational legal process" and criticizes the U.S. legal system for its failure to "obey global norms." He has also state in public that Islamic law could apply in U.S. courts.

You are correct. This is absolutely egregious. She’s just another destructive pampered liberal.

"How immigrants improve the curve."

Sure, if you are talking solely about the legal immigrants who stand in line for 20 years to become residents of the U.S., you very well could have a group far more elite than the general population. But it's comparing apples to oranges. Honest scientists don't compare self-selected elite populations to general populations in this way and pretend that it is a meaningful comparison.

If she is suggesting that the population of a place like Mexico is superior to the U.S. population in productivity, law-abidingness, or academic accomplishment, she is flat out lying or delusional.

O’Reilly calls this leftist loon a “spy” in the Pentagon for the express purpose to report back to Obama.

And Bill is probably correct! Isn’t there a Spanish judge filing international charges against the Bush admin folks and wouldn’t information from the Pentagon be essential to this kangaroo court?

That was my initial reaction as well. This woman is utterly unencumbered with any qualifications in the area of defense. Her credentials, if you wish to call them that, are purely political. She is the perfect apparatchik to spy on the Pentagon.

How many more are there? Are they everywhere?

Somebody in the intelligence industry needs to leak someone’s BC soon and SCOTUS needs to enforce The Constitution before it is totally history.

America is under assault. The idiots that cheer it live and thrive under her rules. They should be tried under rules of sedition, starting with our subservient muslim, marxist president.

She’s the snitch for Urkel. I would love to hear what the military brass would be saying behind her back.

This post is taken from my site, and there are many links at the original post:

While I don’t exactly like it when people just copy and paste the entirety of one of my posts, this post left off the most damning part of her column.

Elections matter. This is WHY they matter.

Obama is filling our entire government with America-hating socialist activists. They will be using the power of our government to punish us (as in the new DHS memo about how everybody on FR should be on the terrorist watch list) and make life much better for foreigners, our enemies, those that just want to see America fail or be humiliated and those who want to see America turned into another European country.

“Seems like an understatement!”

It is, but it’s late and I think it’s a bit of a waste of energy writing any more than that about her. But I’ll add a little more. She was born into privilege, and uses her soapbox to trash those who were not, and who instead achieved by their own efforts and merit. She is, in other words, a consummate liberal.

These folks are at war with us just like the radical muslims. But nobody seems to care.

I searched her biography in vain to find any qualification for a post in the Pentagon. She's been made a "policy adviser" to a woman who is "qualified" but whose qualifications certainly do not appeal to me. I guess the terms "policy" and "adviser" are vague enough so that she has no real responsibilities against which one can judge her credentials.

It could also be that the Pentagon is a dumping ground for patronage.

I cannot believe that she will have clearance to any secrets which are remotely important but stranger things are going to happen in this administration.
